Ford-Ferrari Wars Proxy - The Grid

I've received some cars in the past week and since I'm going to be away a good part of next week on business, I decided to start posting pics of the cars that will be on the grid. If all the pre-registered car make it to the starting line, we'll be in the 40's for car numbers, so I'll work on this thread as the cars come in, so that everything doesn't get pushed together right after the 31st.

I'm going to give the weighs of the cars, along with the pics, and will post some driving notes as soon as I've had a chance to run them on the track. The driving notes won't be a qualification, that will be done after March 31st (by someone familiar with the track and who doesn't have a car in this proxy), when we have all of the car in house, but it will give everyone an idea of how their car performs at The River Run.

So, here are your grid cars, so far:

1. Eightwheels - Ford GT-40 / #20 - 70.70g

My two cars and also Tony's just pulled out for the long trip to MA. This should be exciting, eh?

Cheers,

Keith

Glad you all liked the #8 car; it was fun to put together.

Decals by mike (Z-carfan), body by Slot.It and spirit by Marty (Florida_Slotter)

Note the neat little 8 in the side window of eightwheels's car. :text-bravo:

Now, let's see some more cars arriving.................. I have extra 8's, courtesy of Mike............just let me know if you want one added to your entry(s).

As this is my 2 proxy, could you tell me what is the White striped tape for on the bottom of the other four cars? Thanks for the info. Larry

Hi Larry,

That's Scotch Shipping (strapping) Tape. A lot of racers will leave the pod somewhat loose and then "tune" it using some form of tape. This Scotch tape is popular because the cream-colored strips don't stretch (or they stretch very little).

Chappy's Ferrari is a 312P Coupé, not a 330/P4 ... just my 2 cents worth.

Wow!

I didn't realize that my Ford weighed 111g. No wonder it felt heavy in the shakedown laps. It is 40g more than some of the others.

Message to myself - buy a little scale and either build lighter or drill a lot of holes.

Oh well, someone always has to come last, eh?
