The cars arrived this morning!!!!!.
Just had a quick peek,all neatly packed and no visiual damage.
The duties were only $53 compared to the $220 for the PAN AM cars.

LET THE FUN BEGIN

It's a Thanksgiving holiday morning here, and I'm giving thanks that the ROAR gems have made the inter continental journey safely.

That customs fee for the Pan Am cars seems an incredibly high charge. Seems unfair, and unanticipated, to me. Glad to hear that the ROAR cars were not such a financial burden.

Was still worth every cent for all the fun and laughs we had.

Hi Richard. That box was built to last, so I'm glad that the first 7,414.7 nautical mile trip from Kentucky to South Africa (yup, I used a distance calculator) has not proven that to be false.........

Have fun running them and don't forget to post some pics of your country, as well as of the cars...............

So, while we're giving thanks (historically) to making it through the first winter at Plymouth colony, you can give thanks to having the ROAR cars make it through their first transatlantic crossing..........! :text-bravo:

Speaking of the Pan Am cars - the transports have pulled into Ohio! :D
Haven't had a chance to peek inside the box yet - but the outside looks none the worse for wear considering the distance traveled!

Sorry for only posting now, but here it goes.
These fantastic, beautiful, gorgeous cars arrived at the Marlboro Oval. Richard unpacked each individual car, inspected it and ran a couple of low volt test laps. There are some minor issues on some cars, but Richard will contact each owner individually to sort it out. These cars arrived in very good order.
Here are some pics of them on the oval parade.







These cars then arravide at the 1953 with a ROAR and suddenly the pits was a buzz.



The concourse and races will be reported on shortly.

We are looking forward to racing all these magnificent machines. Well done each and every one of the builders and owners. These cars are beautiful.

The only member of my family to visit South Africa was my daughter who did her last semester of law school on an exchange at the University of Cape Town. Now in just a few months I have had four of my proxy cars visit South Africa. It is great, as I am sure I will never see it in person.

Have fun with the "Bluesome Twosome" and all the other cars as well.

The ROAR cars have been in SA for two weeks and still not been raced.First of all our Chief Lap Scorer Gavin went went on an earley holiday.He is back but now some of the other officials went MIA.
Will get racing earley in the New Year.

Looks very relaxing, Gavin. There's something about the constancy of the ocean that attracts and sooths almost everyone.

Have a Happy Holiday Season down there at the tip of the Southern hemisphere, we'll be listening for the ROAR of the motors sometime in the New Year.
