Due to driver available this last week, we changed up the track order starting the fun off with the oval verses the road course.
In order to provide the greatest diversity on the oval, both qualifying and the subsequent racing were performed in the white and purple lanes. (white is one lane in from the outside lane, purple is one lane in from the extreme inside lane.)
Putting the cars through their paces in an attempt to get the most out of them were:
White lane - APalmer
Purple lane - myself
Format:
- Prior to qualifying, tires were cleaned with tape, braids were check and a light drop of oil applied to the rear bushings of each car.
- Cars were rung out over a 10 lap dash in each lane
- Best lap time in each lane recorded and the values averaged to determine starting position in the grid
Please note - we did discover an issue with the #4 Chaparral during the qualifying process. The hot glue for the body mount had let go on one side, allowing the body to drop down and rub the front tires. A touch of glue resolved the issue and allowed the car to finish out qualifying in good order.
