We ran today's Race #1 qualification as a series of individual heats. For each car, there was first a 10 lap practice session, so that the driver could get used to the car, followed by a 10 lap heat for best lap time and average lap time. Bob Bianchi from Slot Car Corner ran the cars for all practice sessions and all qualification heats.
We ran the cars numerically, from lowest (#1), to highest (#230); one after the other. Tires on all cars were swiped before the start of the practice session and again before the start of the heat. All practice sessions and heats were run in the white (middle) lane.
The track and lane slot was vacuumed before the start of the qualification run and the surface was further cleaned with a tack cloth.
Best lap times give an indication of what the car can do on this track; the fastest it can go, while average lap times give an indication of how easy it is to drive. When the best lap time and the average lap time are close, the car is easy to drive (very few, if any deslots); when the average lap time is significantly higher than the best lap time, the car is less easy to drive and there are apt to be more deslots.
Here are the qualification run results from today.
Car # - Best Lap time - Average Lap time

30 - 7.638 - 7.85
36 - 9.283 - 9.68
40 - 9.198 - 9.30 (this is actually car #4T, but since the Trackmate software won't take letters, it races as 40)
44 - 7.538 - 7.58
45 - 7.805 - 7.85
51 - 7.919 - 7.94

230 8.190 - 8.32 (this is actually car #23C, but, as above, it can't race with Trackmate with a letter, so it races as 230)
That's it for the qualification run. We had a great time running the cars. They're all different and they're all a blast to drive!
