Porsche 956

For 1/43rd Scale Models

Porsche 956

Postby BARC 1 » Mon Oct 10, 2016 1:42 pm

Alongside the 550 couple I was working on this Porsche 956. This will be sent to compete in Peter's Pronomag in February.

The body is a Heller model kit, and the chassis is a Gift card with a sidewinder configuration. Again this uses the new BARC Block 16K rpm motor.

Tires are PGT Cox super scale sanded down to fit.

Sidewinder leaves room for a full interior.

Decals are my own custom, and the car is in the BARC livery.

Great build Dan, what driver figures do you use?

I cast my own drivers. They were copies made from a driver figure that came in a diecast F1 car.

I modify them for each installation. This one has heat shrink tubing for legs( which I use often) The heat shrink tubing is flexible and can squash some when installing the body

Cheers and thanks

Hi Dan,
very nice work on the 956!
The livery is awesome, i really like it!
Making an own livery adds to the character of 1/43rd racing :D And this livery is great!!!
I just recognized for how long i made it to ignore the scratchbuilt section, sorry for that!
The driver looks great, really like the interior!

Well you have that car in your hands now. It has been modifed since these pictures were taken and has an adjustable rear suspension. It has been set low as I was getting the best times out of it with the rear end stiff

Cheers

Not sure on the 143 scratchbuild section. The scale is pretty quiet, but I think the idea is to allow people modeling in other scales have a look and find the builds easily.

For a time I was posting my builds in the scratch build section and not pigeon holing them in to 143. To grow this scale I think we need to showcase what can be done in this scale to other scales. 143 can be so much more then just GO!. All it takes is the desire to try something different.

Hi Roland

I replaced the kit glass with some custom vacuum formed glass so it would sit flush with the frame. The kit glass was really bad.

Cheers
