Liked the green tint of an empty 7Up 710ml bottle, so I cut and trimmed a piece from the curved base to simulate a windscreen deflector.

Image

The plastic (PETG?) is thicker at the bottom but cuts easily with scissors to fit the body's curvature. I'll scribe a slot into the body for the deflector to sit in.

Paint detailed the driver figure with the head mounted on a 1/16" rod. I like the ability to change the face orientation for pics.

Eagerly waiting for a new brand of rims, Mitoos from Spain. Getting the Raid car five spokes, sizes 19 x10 and 17 x 10, triggering the chassis build.

Rims and tires (24 x 12) arrived. Mocked the body on.

Going for this stance.

Onto the chassis.

Chassis progress but not piano wire construction as hoped. Waiting for parts but just couldn't let it sit in the meantime.

Did my usual adjust-o-wheelbase brass construction with a PM forged motor bracket.

Don't have a 1/24 class at GVSCC to run anyways so this is for fun.

Body mounting next.

Body's mounted.

Got the low stance I was shooting for.

Image

Managed to incorporate some piano wire flex with the attached .032 side pans.

Sprayed on some Tamiya white primer and of course it revealed the flaws.

Image

Filled in the voids and hope to get Tamiya TS47 Chrome Yellow on soon.

Image

Chassis's rolling with Ninco NC5 boxer power and 9/30 Slot It gears.

Image

The big 19 x 10.5 Mitoos Raid rims on the back (17 x 10 in the front) worked out, visually and performance-wise. Scale Auto 24 x 12 slick type tires are fitted front and rear for a low profile look.

Looks great. I bought four 1/24 Tamiya Minis to (someday) convert to Slotcar sand run on 1/32 track. How big is the Sunbeam (w x L x we)? Can you pose on your track with similar 1/32 cars? Maybe a U13 type as well as a "normal" 1/32?

Hi Jim,

The Tiger measurements are approximately,

length - 6"
width - 2 9/16" (with flares)
height - 1"

Comparatively, it's the size of a 1/32 Scalextric Nascar...

Image

...a little larger than a 1/24 Tamiya Mini, length and height-wise, (see my Mini build thread at viewtopic.php?f=45&t=13849 ) and...

Image

...obviously bigger than my U13 Challenge proxy Mini.

Image

What's swirling in your creative mind? Will this spur your re-entry into the slot proxy universe!

Got final paint on.

Strange. The Tamiya spray cap's label says Chrome Yellow but it looks more like Camel Yellow (a more medium tone) to me. Oh well. The latter's one of my favorite colors anyways.

Progress.

- detailed driver cockpit area with driver figure, wind deflector and rollbar
- painted head and tailights
- applied decals from Petty Dart Sportsman
- installed exhaust tips made from 1/8" aluminum tube

Need some grille mesh and maybe paint detailing the rim spokes in gray. Pretty much done.

Back to 1/32 builds.
