Another Ford E-100 pick up [FINISHED]

Postby dge467 » Thu Aug 22, 2019 9:01 pm

Chappyman66, Paul, was nice enough to send me one of his 3D printed Econoline pickups! This build is going to consist of a lot of different slot car manufacture's parts! The interior is a heavily modified Scalextric COT interior. The seats are from a Pioneer Charger. Dashboard and engine dog house are made from some scrap plastic. The steering wheel is from a AMT Ford Falcon Ranchero. Driver is from Scalextric. I painted the body with Rustoleum Almond. The chassis will be from a Slot it GT 40 that I have had kicking around for a while. I will be using a MT 1 motor. I also have some CG slot cars Torque Thrust wheel inserts I will be using. It will be built along the lines as a track safety truck. More to come.

It is all finished pretty much. I sanded the body as well as I could without losing too much detail. I scribed in the door lines too. The body is painted with Rustoleum Almond. Making the windows was a bit tricky especially the curved corner glass.I made them from some clear packaging. I made the rear bed rack out of brass rod and soldered it together, and it is removable from the body. The front push bumper is scratch built from brass rod and plastic. The rear bumper is from a 1/25 plastic kit. Rear view mirrors and emergency light are from the spares pile. I also added headlight lenses.Chrome body trim is done with Bare Metal Foil, and I hand painted the Ford lettering on the front. The body is mounted on a Slot It GT 40 chassis . I replaced the Slot It motor with a SCC Tuna motor. I popped out the Slot It wheel inserts and replaced them with some resin steelie inserts and added the baby moon caps. Interior is a heavily modified Scalextric COT piece with a scratch built dash board and engine dog house. Steering wheel is from the spares box, driver is from Scalextric. The decals are from the AMT Falcon Ranchero kit. This truck runs really well!

I'm behind on this one. I have a great chassis ready- Torque Thrusts and all, and I'm slowly getting the hang of smoothing out the PLA (never heard of this stuff before- its interesting), but its slow going. I'll get there, but meanwhile I can feel jealous of dge's excellent truck.

I really like this.

Nice modelling and probably runs pretty good with the Slot It underpinnings.

Ok very late to this one.

WOW.

I will have to beg him for one. These trucks were a very big part of my Uncle's life.

Your execution is as always: flawless.
