Aurora Cunningham build 2

Wasn't expecting to build another Cunningham, but this glue bomb dropped into my lap from a friend especially good at finding old 1/32 car kits.

Image

Warm soapy water and an old toothbrush did a good job of removing 50 years of dirt and soften the old glue enough for parts removal.

The add-on parts not found in my first build identifies it as the the Cunningham Phantom, one in a series of "customizing" kits.

Image

Of particular interest is the hardtop that gives the car an even swoopier look.

I like it, so this build will move ahead.

I wasn't aware of the customizing version. I have learned my thing for the day, thanks!

Pretty cool though. The swoopy hardtop is interesting. Love the Cunningham cars, this is a unique addition!

Cut out extraneous parts for conversion and re-glued side panels.

Mocked windshield frame and fastback top in place.

Reminds me of the Kellison done by MRRC.

Much more work to come.

Kit's windscreen frame wasn't working out so cut a simplified windscreen from packaging plastic, flexible enough to fit a groove along the dash.

Test fit the screen and fastback.

Looks fine for the custom look I'm going for.

Phantom looks bad-a$$ Too bad the windshield didn't work out.
