Just got this body from another forum member.







Was uncertain what it was, but it looks to be an old Aurora Rover BRM Turbine. Has lots of voids requiring filler.

Windows were yellowed and don't think can be restored to clear. Might be able to vac form them.

Will build one of my adjust-o-wheelbase chassis with the Devised Designs slimline motor pod to get it rolling.

I did the Rover BRM in HO scale back in the '60s. There was a good article about it in the November 1964 issue of Model Car&Track.

Yup, I like the Rover BRM turbine. I think I have a resin version around somewhere (that happens all too often these days).

Not bad looking, and just oddball enough to want to have one with a podded chassis ;)

All four tires are making contact so we're flat and square.

Mocked the body on.







RichD was good enough to offer and send the Model Car & Track article. There's a comment that the design must have been hurried as this is one of the ugliest Lemans cars ever put on the track. I'd have to agree on some elements but the quirky look suits me fine.

Still to come - body mounting, windscreen vac forming and chassis refinement.

The remark about the hurried design referred to the 1963 version of the car, I don't have a picture of that handy. There might be something in Wikipedia. The 1964 version reminds me a little of the second generation Corvair. When I did the HO version I started with an Aurora Corvette Stingray body.

Body's mounted with single posts at the front and rear, my preferred method.



Body is lowered at the front, not level like the actual car.







Works for me.

Wheel inserts are made up from BRM Nascar inserts with Cartrix three prong knock offs.

Drives well on my little test track without added side pans but a run on Luf's Big Targa track will decide on further action.

Looks good. Quite an unusual looking wee car but for some reason appeals to me. Could be a good candidate for Carrera to put alongside their Porsche 904GT.

Sprayed on some Tamiya gray primer.



A few voids to fill but not that many.



Added chassis sidepans.

Sprayed on some coats of Tamiya TS-43 Racing Green.





Needs some polishing so we'll wait a few days and follow with paint details.



Managed to vac form a replica from a plaster mold to replace the original one piece screen that was quite yellowed.

Fits much better by cutting into separate screens.

Paint detailed window frames and tail light panel with Tamiya bottle Flat Aluminum and sprayed Tamiya Silver Leaf on the wheel inserts to somewhat match. Used Tamiya Semi Gloss Clear for the first time to finish the body and am quite pleased with the satin like finish. Will use this for future builds.

Car number decals and wheel inserts don't faithfully replicate the originals but that's what I had on hand and they have enough of the "look".

Ended up dropping the vac formed door glass as they were so poor fitting.

Runs well on my little test track but as usual, a spin on Luf's Big Targa will tell all.

Nice build of a unique subject - really nice job starting with some meager pieces.

These historic and rare subjects are especially interesting to see built up.
