One of my favorite bodies is the fat-fendered Pro Slot Porsche 911 GT2. After seeing the newly released Revo Slot version which I believe has a re-tooled Pro Slot body, I was motivated to do an upgrade.

Put together this collection of parts for chassis assembly.

main rails and front axle uprights - .055" piano wire
side pan hinges and cross member - .032" piano wire
guide tongue and rear cross member - .064" x .75 brass plate
side pans - .032" brass plate
front axle holder - 1/8" brass tube
guide post - 5/32" brass tube
motor mount - JK F1, .75" wide

Might have it soldered together by tonight.

Chassis's assembled. A few mistakes but "flat and square" now.

Should be running tonight.

Got it running.

Scrounged through the parts bins and used,

Motor - Slot It 24K boxer
Gears - Slot It 10t pinion and 27t offset crown
Front wheels/tires - Slot It 15 x 8/Fly Racer Ferrari F40 fronts
Rear wheels/tires - Slot I F1/urethane Fly March 761 F1
Guide - Scale Auto Universal, 7mm deep

Ended up with the Slot It boxer as it was the only motor in the bin that had end can mounting screw holes. Would like to try a Slot It Flat 6 motor down the line.

Feels quite driveable and has good punch down the straights.

Body mounting's next.

Trying to get more comfortable building wire/brass chassis, so repetition helps. Got lots of off-the-shelf slot cars nicely modeled but run so-so with stock chassis, so more conversions to come.

Body's mounted with a single post, front and rear, so this Porsche is pretty much done.

Got a low stance with body sills flush with the chassis side pans.

Slot It Porsche 956 BBS inserts seemed appropriate.

Weight came in at 96 grams so adding a trimmed out dash and driver figure will hopefully keep it under a 100.

Drives solid as you would expect at this weight but has good acceleration.

Another good result.

Swapped out the boxer motor for a Cartrix 30K and changed the pinion to a 8 tooth for a gear ratio of 3.375:1 (8t/27t).

Chassis weight dropped 6 grams, 96 to 90.

Smoother now with better acceleration and braking.

Really good outcome.
