Scalextric Javelin Trans Am conversion

My Scalextric Javelin Trans Am hasn't responded well to my usual tuning so after good results from my Revell Monogram Lola T70 Spyder conversion, I thought I'd give the Javelin, a piano wire/brass chassis.

Image

Made and gathered components - .055" wire main rails and front wheel uprights, 1/8" tube for front axle, .064" guide tongue, .032 side pans, .032 wire for pan hinges, JK F1 offset motor pod, 7/32" rear axle tube to accept 3/16" x 3/32" oilites.

There's space within the body, so I'll be using either a regular S can or boxer motor.

Chassis's assembled. Had to de-solder and move the motor bracket to better match the body's wheel base but at least I got it flat and square on the first try.

Looked in the parts bin, found a NSR 21k boxer motor, so I'll try this torquey motor first.

Should be running by tonight.

Chassis's rolling.

Equipped with:

- NSR 21K King boxer motor
- 10t pinion, Slot It 26t off set crown
- Scalextric Javelin front axle/wheel/tire assembly
- Slot It 17 x 8 rims with inserts from cut down stock plastic rims, and urethane versions of Ninco F1 fronts
- Sloting Plus Universal round keel 7mm deep guide

Runs good but motor's too much. Will search my used parts box for an old Ninco. I think an NC2 will do the trick.

Mocked the body on and it's going to have a nice stance, lower than stock.

Going good so far.

Body's mounted.

Got the sills flush with the chassis sidepans.

Lowered stance works for me.

Will try to save as much of the interior tray. It's shallow compared to the Camaro and Mustang so I'm optimistic.
