Matra 670B Lemans 1972

Postby VTECFOUR » Wed Mar 22, 2017 11:27 pm

Just got a seconds SRC Matra 670B Lemans 1972 body and accessories. Sure nice to get an already done body with cosmetics to cover a ready-to-go chassis , my usual adjust-o-wheelbase one.

Should be up and running in no time.

Nice subject Dan, i think the Matra's are one of the most beautiful designs made.
I will be looking forward to your progress.

Where would you get that , I'd love to get one as well. I have the long tails and really like the short tail. Any help appreciated. Have fun with the build.

@ Chappy - Hi Bob, one of my favorite Lemans cars. Being #15, the winning '72 car, made it a no-brainer purchase.
@ GTI - Got the body kit from Victory Lap Hobbies in Puyallup WA.

Body's mounted.

Rolling on Slot It 14 x 8 plastic wheels/rubber tires at the front and BRM Nascar/PG??? in back.

I'm sure it's a seconds body as there's a small fingerprint in the paint on one of the sides. Doesn't bother me.

Should be running tomorrow.

All done.

Made my own interior tray using just the kit's driver head and helmet. Intake snorkel mounted on sheet plastic and glued to body. Rear wing was a snap-in. Wheel inserts are resin copies of Slot It Matra.

Chassis completed with .032 brass strip side pans soldered on to piano wire.

Not a rocket with a stock MRRC slimline motor and 9/28 gears on my little test track but feels secure and smooth. Will get a good break-in at Luf's Big Targa this Friday.

Worked out well.

Nicely done. That body just needed some real gear under it. Mission accomplished.

Very nice! I think that the blue color is what draws me to the Matra-Simca. Will your adjustable chassis take an FC-130 motor with that car?

Allan,

There's quite a bit of room between the top of the slimline motor and body, so fitting a FC-130 motor with the appropriate Devised Designs motor pod in my chassis shouldn't be a problem.

I could lower the body a bit more, but would have to cut down the rear tire diameter. I like it as is.
