65 Mustang 2+2 Build ~ Out trading paint!!!

The Boyz went to the Model Cave in Ypsi and purchased the new AMT "Scale Stars" Mustang.

The kit doesn't seem to the "heft" the original did in thickness and seemed just slightly smaller.

We'll put a "older static build" next to the latest version when the build is done.

The wheel wells of the older version fit the Pioneer chassis perfect, on this build we are going to have to add some width to the wheel wells.

So here we go on the build!!

Boyz just slapped a coat of matt black paint on the 2+ 2 as the first color of the two tone paint scheme.

Wow that is one nice set of flares, I'll have to try my luck out on the 65 I just received last week.

The flares were scary!!

Used Plastruct #90749 which is .040x.250 because it was so flexible.

I even worked it into circles to further give it flex.

Just hot glued it from the inside.

Then used Tamiya White Putty, which people told me bonds better and easier to shape.

We are very low tech here at Dundee Speedway as you can tell!!!

Need practice at it, and will rely on the "it's it moving you won't notice" theory.

Plan on getting several of the kits, do different color ways and exchange it with the same chassis.

I had figured that the new AMT Mustang kit would be exactly the same size as the older version. Don't these use the same old mold to make them?

Would a Scalextic Mustang chassis fit better than a Pioneer one?

I like those adjustments you made to the wheel wells.

Boyz sprayed on some Park Green from Tamiya.

Boyz thinking the name is miss labeled - the right name for the paint should be "Go Green"!!

Gret job DD. Always neat to see how things get done.

I like the green.

Looks like another Pioneer T/A chassis has found a home.
