Lotus 56B Turbine

Got this Lotus 56B Turbine body from Retro Racer's slot car estate. The side pods remind me of the current Mercedes F1 cars almost 50 years later.

I think it's a Munter cast.

Gave it my adjust-o-wheelbase chassis treatment with the Devised Designs super slimline motor pod. A piano wire chassis would probably run better but I'm just at the infant stage on that build technique.

Ran at yesterday's Friday race on a speedway type track and it went just fine. A fellow GVSCC member suggested a phantom Camel livery so I'm going in that direction with a yellow and blue finish.

Nice to see Keith's stuff not languishing. That's a smart looking car too. Seems Keith had an affinity for the turbine cars.

Can't wait to see it finished.

Progress. Sprayed on some Tamiya Camel Yellow. Painted turbine intake and cast Mclaren wheel inserts in contrasting blue. Applied appropriate phantom livery decals.

Need to find a reclining driver figure, make or find a windscreen and paint detail the suspension.

Looks good so far and runs well so everything work out. Retro Racer 44 would approve.

Any idea who made the body?

Thanks for the Immense Miniatures driver figure tip.

I'm guessing that Keith got the body from Munter in New Zealand.

He entered the two earlier Lotus Turbines in the 100 Years of Indy Proxy so I was surprised this version was available in his slot car estate.
