Fly Alfa Romeo Guilia GTAm - hybrid chassied

Postby VTECFOUR » Wed Nov 09, 2016 12:15 pm

Got going on my Trans Am proxy entry.

Built one of my hybrid little car chassis using a Devised Designs super slimline motor pod.

Modified the Fly's interior. Removed most of the floor to clear the chassis but importantly retained the dash, steering wheel, rollcage and back tray. Will perch the driver figure on top of the motor.

Body's mounted on 15 x 8 rims, front and rear. Probably end up using Sloting Plus rims that have the Alfa look.

Stance is good.

Pleased with outcome so far.

Installed the modified Fly interior but gained some high weight.

Image

Chassis's done with my usual side pans but additional lead weight at the rear made it more planted around a certain tell-tale corner on my twisty track.

Image

Runs well but not as fast as my Porsche 914-6 with a similar hybrid chassis.

Going with Sloting Plus Arctic rims for the proxy.

Modified and installed the original driver figure. Secured the upper torso-only figure by glueing the hands to the steering wheel and helmet to the roof.

While waiting for the Sloting Plus Arctic rims, I thought I'd try another wheel look

These resin casts from the Revell Monogram 55 Chevy kit rims don't seem out of line.

A few more days and we'll try the Sloting Plus rims.

That is a nice looking car. Well done paint and decaling for a very nice complete package.

Cheers

Can't take any credit for the body cosmetics as that how it came from the Fly factory.

Seemed to have misplaced my Sloting Plus Arctic wheels, so I'm going to try these minilite inserts cast from modified SCX Barracuda rims.

Pretty sure the Trans Am Alfas used these.
