SRC Porsche 914/6 - brass chassied

Postby VTECFOUR » Wed Aug 24, 2016 2:19 pm

Was surprised the SRC Porsche 914/6 bodies were being offered separately so I jumped on the purchase along with the clear pieces.

Got a chassis waiting in the wings so here we go.

Got mine from Victory Lap Hobbies in Tacoma. Flared and un-flared versions were available upon ordering a week and a half ago along with clear pieces.

The Jagermeister liveries went fast.

Body's mounted to the chassis.

Stance is good.

Would have liked it lower but had to keep tire rub in mind especially with the single post mounting, front and rear.

Modified BWA Fuch inserts to fit the Slot It 15" fronts and F1 rears.

May try taller profile tires up front.

Side pans attached.

Just waiting for slimline motors in the mail to trial run.

@ Lou E - I find my small builds are more driveable and planted from the additional weight of the side pans.

Still waiting for motors in the mail, so I got to some modeling with paint detail on the Fuch wheel inserts.

Image

Changed to taller profile front tires for looks as well as more clearance for the guide's brushes.

Getting there.

Motor's arrived in the mail.

The Scalextric slimline FF050s I like to use have a spline on the shaft to help secure the plastic Scalextric Sport and Fly 1.5mm pinions. The BWA bracket's short length between the axle line and rear of the bracket wouldn't allow me to retain the spline end so I spaced the motor with 4mm length brass tube.

Car looks good.

Runs well too as I'd hoped.

Just need the windscreen installed and finish with a simple interior tray.

Done.

Installed the windscreen and fabricated the engine cover and interior tray.

The tray's shallow enough to just clear the slimline motor.

Turned out so well that I'm going to build another, this time the Jagermeister livery. Noticed the body was re-stocked at Victory Lap Hobbies, so jumped on it.

I just got the Jager body. Gorgeous. I can't wait for the rest of them to come in. I never would have known without your post.
