Morgan Aero racer

Postby VTECFOUR » Sat Jun 11, 2016 6:50 pm

Had this SCX Morgan Aero body long before my chassis building skills developed.

So no excuses now to get this going.

Built my typical small car adjust-o-wheelbase chassis with the Devised Designs super slimline motor pod.

Should be rolling soon.

Chassis's rolling.

Parts list includes:

Motor pod - Devised Designs super slim line
Motor - Scalextric FF050 20k red can
Pinion/crown gears - SCX Pro 9t/SCX Pro 27t
Wheels/tires - rear (Slot It F1/homemade March F1 urethanes), front (Slot It 15 x 8 plastic/Slot It silicone)
Wheel inserts - front (Slot It Sauber C9), rear (Slot It Sauber C9 turned down)
Axles - rear (SCX Pro), front (3/32 piano wire)
Guide - Scale Auto universal

Body needed just minor grinding at the back of the interior tray to clear the tires and front valence to allow guide swivel. Body posts are 3/16" Evergreen round tube with 2-56 screw flanged brass inserts.

Sits just fine to clear the wheel arches.

Test run was good on my twisty home track. Some added side pans will make it feel more planted.

Added side pans...

...and changed to smaller diameter Slot It front tires to lower the front.

Weighs in at 97g and the drive's very planted.

Really pleased with the outcome.
