Hi Dennis, Thanks for that idea, it just may help me get this one done.
The pans don't pivot so much, the wire inside the tube flexes and I'm sure that works better to control how easy the pans move (just my theory) it still acts like a hinge.
The pans can move .5mm from top to bottom, and flap the same amount too.
The chassis runs great, no chatter any where (so far), the rail under the end bell is doubled, the pix don't show it very well.
Love the 2E!!!!
I'm sure mounting the body on these cars is better from the pans that centered mounts nut AI could be wrong.

Another potential body mounting option..........I used 4 individual body posts glued to the shell, with counter sunk screws through the pans.......sorry I don't have an underside shot of the just the body, but the body posts will all meet the shell in easy to attach areas on your 612. I have done a couple of 612's, and the with the curved sills, this (to me) appeared the simplest/most elegant solution.....careful alignment has resulted in no lost pan movement.

Hi Chris, I've seen that 612 a few times and still go "mmmmmmmm that's so nice".
I have done separate body posts like that before but want something a bit stronger for this one.
Countersunk screws thru the pans work well when loosened a tad, I'm sure you already know that.
Love your chassis work too, real top stuff as all the cars you build.
