"Slot cars were the most memorable toy of those us of the "cars" generations, not only in the U.S., but both in Europe and Australia as well. It was one of the first electro-magnetic hobbies that many of us had, with hands on experience in electronics, fabrication, physics, and even creative painting and personalization. It is also a social event as those of us who raced toured around, and made relationships we have kept many decades later (as well as our toys), and many more now with the internet and message boards. From building slot cars I decided to become an engineer, which defined my life. Forty years later I am still slot car racing with friends even older, for nostalgia and social benefits."
