there is a standard BTW... few people have noticed but you can race an Oxigen car on a Carrera track with only an Oxigen equipt chipped car and a wireless Oxigen controller.

And no, there's no reason for the companies to cooperate on a standard system.. not one.
People don't seem to get that in their own markets they hold nearly ALL the market share, THAT fact means that they have NO reason to cooperate in a smaller market solely because they fight for ground in that smaller market.

Seems that work in model railroading. It is nice to buy a DDC locomotive from any manufacturer and know it will work with my chosen system

IMO the benefit is to the consumer and the greater good of the hobby. Something that should be important to all the manufacturers. I believe this is why analog remains so popular. No need to make an investment in some proprietary system that might not survive
