Many years ago, Ulrich made a 4 wheel independent suspension 1/32nd and 1/24th slot car chassis (you may remember pictures of it I posted before). At the time we all were saying the same things that are being commented on here. When LHS got one in, we saw that the tires were slightly crowned, and very soft. And the chassis could go full blast around most of the turns in the giant wood track they had. It behaved like magnet cars do, in that the cornering was unnaturally good, but once it got loose, there was no chance of recovery. For the Ulrich chassis, the secret was the coil springs that caused the wheels at rest to be straight, no camber, while under load, it allowed camber without losing traction much at all.
