As far as Cincyslots goes, I like the site just the way it is. Ordering via email or telephone lets you personally contact the person behind the business. It's a personal touch that allows you to build a relationship of sorts that simply does not exist on sites with live stock and shopping carts, as in those cases you are simply a faceless account number. And I'd like to add that Cincyslots is run by a hell of a guy who cares about the hobby and his customers. Ordering from him is more like buying from a fellow hobbyist and an actual person, rather than from some company on the internet.

Now, back to the original crux of this thread- That Escort looks pretty. It's great to see Scalextric's new releases do not yet incorporate that half-tray interior that they had previously announced. I wonder how far off that is, not that I'm thrilled at seeing it hit market. In my opinion, the classic full interior and sidewinder is one of the defining marks of a Scalextric release.

Goose - cool your jets. There is no store bashing going on. Rather, I'd fancied getting one of these cars and as I only buy from HRW sponsors, thought I'd try Cincy if they had updated their site with a shopping cart.

As I work a real job 40+ hours per week on top of a 1.5 hour commute and have no abilities while on the job to surf the web, email, or call - that leaves me with after-hours purchasing only. In the case of Cincy - Bruce does a fine job supporting the community, but the inability to get a fast turn around answer or stock check makes me shop elsewhere as a faceless account. I have zero problem with that either, but being in IT, I do wish folks would update stuff on the web for enthusiasts like myself.

But since you brought it up - the Escort is the one I was interested in since it looks great and I was able to find it elsewhere with after hours shopping whilst in my underwear at midnight.

Since we got slightly off topic, I have no problem replying to the question. So with that said, please read this as my friendly tone of voice explaining my view.

I welcome all comments. Let me start off by saying that I am only one guy with ZERO computer training what so ever. Everything I've done was on the fly. When I first started the page in 2000, there weren't a lot of options. Our page is easy to update and I feel it's very easy to browse but of course I know where everything is too :) As stated above, I enjoy getting to know my customers. I have built some relations that having taken me outside the world of slot cars. There were about 6 of my customers that took our enjoyment of racing slot cars to online gaming. Of course you're thinking video games are killing the hobby, ok maybe not, but since we were scattered all over the USA, this was the only way to connect and race oh and play a few war games. Boy did we have fun with that.

Anyhow, I've struggled with the shopping cart for some time. Personally, I would love to add a cart. What's holding me back you ask? A LOT of work! I'm not ready to start over. We probably have 3000 cars here and a ton of parts. Don't get me started on the parts. :) We also buy a lot of collections. They are mostly one of cars. At 1 point I bought a collection of 500+ cars. Now to add 500+ "1 of" cars to my shopping cart would have taken forever. With the way the page is now all I need to do is drag a photo and give it a # and a price. It goes very fast. No it not flashy but it gets the job done. I try to keep things as simple as I can. I understand that our business model doesn't work for everyone. I'm doing that best I can with the skill given.

Again, please don't take this as a rant. Just imagine a few of us sitting around a coffee table shooting the breeze. Since we can't all be a conference call together, here's my side of the story. If you were one of the few to read the entire message, Thank you for your time. :lol:

But Like Bruce I have no shopping cart, I would rather talk or chat with Razor customers to see what they need so they get everything right the first order

As someone who likes to have a full series of cars and not just 2 or 3, this is one of the nicest efforts Scalextric has going for them IMHO.

Well I must say I have been a customer of Cincy Slots. I wondered myself why no shopping cart. Since you have explained it I'm good with your explanation. When I'm in a rush I'll make a purchase at another store as I always have.
