I managed to make some PG tires work after cutting them down on the tire machine.

What do you use to clean urethanes? My usual standby, TNT, doesn't seem to work too well.

I run the tires over a sponge pad with alcohol. That "de-glazes" and cleans them very well and does not harm them over time.

I use the off the shelf 69/71%.

I have had some tires do the same, but the funny thing is, they were shelf queens. Homemade tires that turned translucent red and simply fell off the wheel.

Then I have Fly Classics with very old K&D tires that still grip today like they did 10 years ago.

Its a crap shoot IMHO. I still deglaze lightly with a sponge with alcohol and will keep doing it. All my Sportsman models with PG's have countless miles on them and not a hint of issues.

But do what you feel is safe.

You can clean silicone tires quickly by rolling them on sticky tape, that procedure does not work as well with urethane tires. Dust sticks to silicone tires, but it does not stick to urethane, however urethane tires can get coated with something that will reduce their grip. I use Simple Green or any good surface cleaner like Pine Sol. I tack some microfiber cloth to a board and moisten one end with the cleaner. I roll the tires across the wet area and on across the dry end to wash and dry the tires in one pass. Urethane tires should last a long time, they are much more likely to wear down and have to be replaced before the urethane degraded. I would avoid using solvents on the tires. Use polyurethane as the material. Ethanol, methanol, isopropyl alchol and ketones are listed as poor. Diesel fuel is fair, kerosene is good. Solvents tend to be flammable and/or toxic.
