Some random thoughts:
Mike Stott, our host, did an outstanding job as usual – somehow he manages to raise the bar for this event each year. Thank you very much Mike.
The food was fantastic – in particular, kudos to Craig’s wife and daughter for the delicious food throughout the event. As Alwyn noted, the Shepards Pie was outstanding.
To Don Walker and his wife Diane, thank you for making your video gear available to livestream the event.
To Dave Kennedy and Christian Gingras, thank you for the terrific pictures that capture the essence of this event.
To “The General” and Harry – thank you for the great pit box placards. They looks great!
To the Pennsylvania team who participated for the first time, you earned everyone’s respect. We look forward to racing with you again. Same goes for Team CanAm, Team Grizzly and Team Clover Leaf Racing.
To the Chicago team, you’d never know this was just your second time racing in this event - you pushed us very hard. Your club’s name will be on the Ken Brown Trophy in the future – well done!
To everyone who participated, congratulations! Without you, there is no Michigan 24 event. A great group of slot car racers and a great group of people – no exceptions.
To my teammates, it is an incredible honor to race with you! To Alwyn who stepped in for me, it was a pleasure to meet you. It was pretty obvious to everyone you were having a blast, both on and off the track. Your racing skills are top-shelf – hopefully we’ll get to race with you again. Wear your “Rodney” shirt with pride – we’ll get you a proper shirt with your name in the near future. To Christian and Georges – it was great to see you again. Both of you were incredibly consistent throughout the whole race – well done. Hopefully I can make a trip up to Quebec City during your so-called “Summer” for a visit. To Matt, thank you for stepping in for Dickie on such short notice, you did one hell of a job in the red lane! To Smokeio, thank you for the effort you put into preparing such amazing cars – it’s always a pleasure “collaborating” with you to squeeze more performance out of these cars. For the record, I concede you are the MPG champion for the ride out/back. And I’m already working on a replacement EZ-Pass for that &^$%( Ohio toll booth that doesn’t recognize my current one.
To anyone reading this wondering what it must be like to participate in an endurance race, what are you waiting for? Life is too damn short – organize a race and experience it firsthand. Who knows, you might be racing with this group of misfits someday…
