Michigan 8th annual 24 hour race

After a brief say night of driving, marshaling, pitting and sleep ( well, closing my eyes anyways), I'm able to update this morning...

Cloverleaf coniinues to lead, with SCC making up about 70 of the 150 or so laps they were behind. SCC continues to push, but Cloverleaf is in control and it's their race to lose.
Grizzly is holding 3rd, Can Am running 4th and Great Lakes and the nine no along behind.

Alan, cars seem to be a tenth or two slower than in past years. Remember that the NSR Moslers were not allowed this year. That aid, Cloverleaf is running a Scaleauto Vette and it is running quite well.

Getting down towards the end, with 2 1/2 heats to go.
Cloverleaf is running steady in the lead.
SCC trying hard to make up the lost laps.
Grizzly has a comfortable margin in 3rd.
Can Am has a good margin in 4th despite having a headlight dangling high in the air.
Great Lakes running as best as they can bringing up the rear.

Yes, it's true. Cloverleaf has won their grueling, but fun MI24 race.
They ran a great race, and managed to avoid the break downs that they've had in other years.

I dont think any one car was a clear favorite over the other. It came down to strength of driver line up, suttle little tuning differences and luck. All the cars where pretty close in performance which wqs great. I dont think any 1 car was vastly superior over the others where it would be a race of all 1 type.

It was as fun as always at the Michigan 24 hour race. The racing was great! I was happy to meet the new team from the Great Lakes area. I really could share in their struggles as we did in our first year. It is always tough to come in the first year if you have never done a 24 hour event. It is a few little things that make a huge difference.

I was really happy with our race as well this year! The Cincy team has been coming to this race for 6 years now. We finally kicked the breakdown bug as well with our race. We finished in the 3rd place that eluded us the last two years. Our car was as good at the end as it was in the beginning which is a huge step for us. Looking forward to next year!

Congrats to the Cloverleaf team for a great win and thank you to the Cincy team for the use of their car in the 24. All our vehicles that we brought were hopelessly outclassed and that was a disappointment, but the help and advice shown to the Great Lakes Slot Car Club made us feel very welcome and really turned the event into something special for us. We are already planning for next year's event, and can't wait to see all of you next year.

Thanks to Mike for opening his home to us, to Steve from Cincy on advice and help with the borrowed car, to Steve Sawtelle for the invite and and everyone else for their insight and pointers.
