Michigan 8th annual 24 hour race

It is that time of the year again to start thinking about the 2018 Michigan 24 - Cloverleaf Raceway will once again host the race.

I am posting the rules and dates to the race now. If you any questions please post them in this thread so that everyone can read the reply. If one person has a question, odds are someone else will have the same question. Last years teams have first chance to fill the available slots. You must let me know that you intend to participate in the race and I must have received your down payment by March 15th. After that date it is first come, first served. If you think you would like to enter in the race this year but are not one of last year's participants, please let me know as soon as you can and I will place you on the list of possible teams.

I will not make any rule changes after March1ST, if a rule is changed I will highlight it in yellow so that it is obvious to everyone.
Dates: April14th - April 15th, 2018. Race starts at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 14th
. I will open the track at 8:00am that morning or earlier if needed.
The track will also be open for practice on Friday, April13th beginning at 9:00 AM. If you would like more time, please let me know and I will try to work with you.
Rules: MIchigan 24 Hour rules
Thanks
Mike

I don't want to post yet if Grizzly Racing is going run this year until all the other teams have committed and paid their entry fees. It's not fair to Mike because a lot of teams won't race if they know we're in it and there's no chance they can win. And the last thing I want to do is have Slot Car Corner withdraw after they already said they'd run. :)

Mike, please let me know when you have four teams paid up and then we "might" (can't say we will) participate. :text-thankyouyellow: :D

Butch, for the first time this year there will be a special Seniors "endurance" race for racers like you with a limited attention span (e.g. "Where'd I put my controller?" and "I've lost track of my car on the track - can someone help me find it?"). It consists of thirty (30) 48 second heats for a total of 24 minutes. And since you're the only racer old enough to meet the age eligibility requirement, you're pretty much assured of a win.

:text-welcomewave:

p.s. Ship me your walker and I'll install an XLR connector - and yes, you qualify for the Senior discount.

Steve, I'm going to take you up on your offer. At my age and being on a fixed income I have to save anyway I can. :text-thankyouyellow:

I also promise to "not" take advantage of your youth and inexperience. And to show you what a good sport I am, I'm going drive left handed, so please install the XLR on the left side of my walker. I'll put some red tape on the left side so you'll know which one it is. :D

Steve, this is why you think I have a limited attention span.

Brains of older people are slow because they know so much.

People do not decline mentally with age, it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains.

Scientists believe this also makes you hard of hearing as it puts pressure on your inner ear.

Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for.
It is NOT a memory problem, it is nature's way of making older people do more exercise.

I'll be sending my walker to you just as soon as I remember where I put it. Might take awhile.

In the interest of being completely transparent and up-front, I will be installing the XLR connector in your walker as promised (once you remember where you left it). However, I don't plan to wire it up since doing so wouldn't make any difference in your lap times. And you'd probably spend the whole 48 second heat trying to find a wall outlet to plug it into...

Sounds like a plan. I'd rather have Dave wire it up for me anyway, I've seen your solder joints. :scared-eek: :teasing-tease:

Rule Clarification

Mike im guessing you did not see my second pm.
The rules clearly state GT and LMP type cars. I pm’d you as One of our team members said he was going to build a DP I suggested I contact you prior to him spending the money and time on an illegal car choice. You stated that you’re planning on campaigning a Daytona Prototype, which is NOT a GT car or LMP but a “Daytona Prototype”. I have no issues with that car, my issue is the grayness of the rules based on your choice of cars. Does this mean I could enter a Group C car? A car that actually raced at LeMans as opposed to the DP. Before I select a car I really think the permissible cars allowed needs to be clarified!

Looking forward to a clear set of rules.

Hello Bob,

Several teams have raced Daytona Prototypes in previous Michigan 24 races. The rules have been updated to explicitly include them in the list of allowable cars.

:)

The DPs run at the 24 hours of Daytona...The MI24 has always included LMP, GT, and DP...
