Scaleauto and BRM race May 16th

Postby mikeinclover » Sat May 09, 2015 7:30 pm

I will be holding a race on May 16th at my home.  We will be running Scaleauto 1/24 and would also like to run BRM classic / vintage cars. Cars for the BRM race would include the Porsche 917 and the Ferrari 512. I would like to run slip on Silicone tires no sponge coated silicone tires in the Scaleauto class.  You are allowed to glue and true them if you like.  If this is a problem for some of the guys then maybe we will just run two classes one with and one without slip on / non coated foam tires.  The BRM cars can still run silicone coated foam tires.  You can also bring your Group C BRM cars and if we have the time we can run them also.  If you have any questions please let me know.

Are you doing hand-out silicone tires that I have to glue/true there or can I just show up with silicone tires I have alread glued/trued? I already have QuickSlicks on my ScaleAuto.

Also, what time will racing start?

Matt no I am not handing out tires for the race, that was only for the Fly And Sideways race. Racing will start after we eat . Saturday racing is a little laid back. Should start by 7:30 I would think .

When's the next 1/24 scale Saturday night race at Cloverleaf Clyde Rd track? It's time for another. Just don't make it on 6/20, I will be on a plane headed to Germany.

How about the 27th then. The race in Philly is next weekend. What do you want to run same as last time?

June 27th would work for me. The same as last time and maybe getting a 3rd race with the BRM Group C cars would be great.

First off, I would love to attend and race, but the commute is bit too far.

When we ran BRM cars at our local commercial raceway, it became immediately apparent that the Porsche 962 was at a disadvantage to the Nissan 88C. Most of that was weight.

I have not had the luxury of examining one of the newer BRM cars with the anglewinder drive, but I seriously doubt if the inline cars will be able to run with them. Might want to do a test session. Just an opinion.

Florida_Slotter - we run the BRM Porsche 917 and the Ferrari 512 in a classic LeMans class (no Group C's). The 917's have a big advantage over the 512's due to weight. The 512's have the aluminum chassis which results in them being significantly heavier and slower than the 917's.

We've run the group C's multiple times and I don't recall there being a decisive advantage of one make over another like there is with the 917's vs 512's, but's it's been awhile since we raced the BRM Group C cars. We will have to see if that's the case during the next race.
