Looking like a great field.

Hornet's in the post - decided to risk ordinary air-mail.Should make it by the weekend as long as the Christmas rush hasn't started.

Rob, is there any way you could mount the guide on a drop arm out in front of the car, and then pack lots of weight under the bonnet(hood). Might not look very nice, but it might work. I really feel your frustration with this; the little Isettas I motorised are absolute pigs to set up, because despite being die-cast, they aren't heavy enough to squash the braids down and allow the tyres to grip - and I've got this to look forward to with the BSA.

Mr. Hornet...what a coll looking car. Nice job!

I will wait until all cars arrive and then Dave will snap a group hug photo for the top of the forum.

Thanks, guys.

To be honest, it looks better in the flesh than it does in the photos, because the camera magnifies the many not-so-good bits.

Dave, it does look like a 4x4 but surprisingly its not top heavy. It needs one of those upside down decals that reads "if you can read this, flip me over"

Everyone's cars look great, cant wait to see the results but I bet they will be fun to race!

The good news - I was able to get my car up to the local track last night and it is EXTREMELY easy to drive (I'm not sure you could roll if you tried!).
The not so go news - I think may be over geared for the short ovals currently on the circuit. (it does nicely on the big open road course at Mark's though!)
But any way you cut it - it is fun to drive and I am looking forward to seeing how it stacks up with the rest of the field.
Should be in today's mail headed west!

On the basis of previous form, Hornet should be there tomorrow.

Mine is in route!
Here is what the final product looked like going into the box bound for California!

Would have liked to have spent more time on the paint/body - but spent too much time "learning" on the chassis.
So she has a "Earl Scheib" type quickie job that while not as detailed as I like - still kind of fits the Autograss look. :)
Can't wait to see how she performs in comparison to the rest of the field!

Thanks Dave!
I had a LOT of fun on this!
I won't say that it didn't have me scratching my head more than once as I couldn't figure out a way to make my first chassis plan work - but all in all, I am pretty happy with how, what I consider to be my first true scratch build, turned out!

I am definitely looking forward to another "theme" based build!

I think it is more fun learning about some cars you know nothing about and then building one, sending it off to be raced by someone else and getting their feed back.

Lots of neat builds, here. I'm a bit Mini-biased though.

Nice going, everyone.
