Marty, I'd like to add something that needs to be addressed. At each of the locations for the proxy race, word was circulated amongst the different raceways, to their regular racers, that slot cars of a slower variety were going to be raced. Word of mouth from those racers was how so many new faces were at each event. And with talking to these guys I can safely say that their retired status has been changed to "newly return" status. It's a fact that there was a lot of old cars getting dusted off and tire cleaning going on after the race in Jacksonville. I'm thinking that there were discoveries that fun can be had at any level of competition. Not everyone is obsessed with a speed demon or compulsively buying the latest gadget. My emphasis about the best slot car racing is just showing up at the track and bring what you got.
