Slothead Racing selects - Petronas Mercedes!

Our driver will prepare to do his finest Lewis Hamilton impersonation from the top of the podium.

Also, driven by extreme dislike for awful 8 legged creatures we may have no choice but to stomp all over Down Unda Thunda's team car. Or, spray it with something toxic then set it on fire.

The glorious thing about our redback spiders, they love hiding in dark places, then sneak up and bite you without you even knowing

The T-county boys figure that any car that is sponsored by a suspension company ought to have some pretty tight handling!
We will take the Bilstein #98 car!

Boss Dave - you just got caught in the frenzy of the Ford execs having flash backs to the mid 60's war with Enzo Ferrari. I heard they wrote a blank check for the Model A's team to ensure a good outing.

Thunda - your comments are most unwelcome. Now we're going to have to double fumigate our pit paddock before any work gets done. We may have to have someone stand guard 24 hours a day with a 5 gallon spray can of insecticide.

Racing to commence in a few hours when all the grandkids and parents leave for the beach for a few hours and leave Grandpa Dave a few hours reprieve from their visiting. Going from a family of 2 to an instant household of 4 adults and 4 kids for a week can be trying. :angry-tappingfoot:

Saginaw Valley where dreams and heartbreaks continue to happen. Best 2 out of 3 races, with 2 1/2 minute heats. All the teams were lined up for the pairing and Dave's Dollies in the Audi Ultra drew the comp Bye. (seriously  ) Being 1st on the track Simone drove the Audi hard and traction was not the best but still managed to put down one solid run with only 1 Tire and 1 Brake issue. Moves on to the semi finals.
Time: 10.862 with 11.97 laps
Time: 10.844 with 12.99 laps

1st Matchup: The Kid VS Racing Bandit
Image
1st Race:
Kid was out to a great start and the Bandit was right with him until the Bandit had a mechanical failure which he could not overcome the deficit after clearing the pits.
Kid: 10.681 @ 13.41 laps
Bandit: 10.401 @ 12.31 laps
2nd Race:
The Bandit pulled out all the stops for this race and the Kid was pushing to catch up. The Kid ran a clean 2nd race without any issues but the Bandit finished ahead of him despite having a tire and brake failure.
Bandit: 9.963 @ 13.64 laps
Kid: 10.559 @ 13.50 laps
3rd Race:
Both drivers were running neck and neck and there must have been something on the track as both cars had tire failures almost simultaneously. Out of the pits and a lap later The Kid had a brake failure and had to re pit. It looked like it was all over until 30 seconds left in the heat and the Bandit must have hurt his engine on the last heat and ended up with a mechanical failure and had to pit. He exited the pits in time to see the Kid drive by in front of him to finish the race. Well fought.
Kid: 10.697 @ 13.31 laps
Bandit: 10.537 @ 12.85 laps
The Kid moves onto the Semi Finals.

T-County Vs Slot Head
Image
1st Race:
Slot head jumped out to an early lead but a brake failure put him back behind T County. Slot head caught back up to T county but was again sent to the pits with a tire down allowing T county to drive to an easy win.
T County: 10.697 @ 13.53 laps
Slot head : 10.764 @ 12.85 laps
2nd Race:
Slot head found just a touch more speed than T county and managed to just keep ahead. The harder T County tried to catch him the more ground he lost because he was pushing to hard in the curves causing massive drifts. Both teams had a tire failure but T County could not catch Slot Head in the end.
Slot Head: 10.502 @ 13.76 laps
T County: 10.750 @ 12.88 laps
3rd Race:
Slot Head was on a roll and found even more speed. All T County could do was chase taillights. Slot Head pushed the motor too hard and was sent into the pits with a mechanical failure. T County made up the time and pulled ahead as Slot Head exited the pits. Really pushing again Slot Head passed T County and was on it's way to victory until another mechanical failure returned him to the pits and T County took the win.
T County: 10.652 @ 13.03 laps
Slot Head: 10.397 @ 12.46 laps
T County onto the Semi Finals.

Thunda VS Cat Racing
Image
1st Race:
Thunda was having traction issues trying to stay with Cat, but Cat was having it's own issues with 1st a Brake failure and then a Tire down letting Thunda catch him each time he pitted. In the end the sheer speed to Cat Racing allowed him to catch back up and pass Thunda.
Cat: 10.321 @ 13.66 laps
Thunda: 10.887 @ 11.89 laps
2nd Race
Things only got worse for Thunda in the second race. Traction was still an issue even after changing to a different tire compound in between rounds. Even with the tire change they still had to pit twice during the race but Cat was just in the zone and drove to the win.
Cat: 10.296 @ 13.94 laps
Thunda: 11.015 @ 11.43 laps
Cat moves to the Semi Finals

SEMI FINALS
Kid Vs Cat
Image
1st Race:
Both cars ran a trouble free round Cat's car was just a touch faster but was having slight traction problems in the curves allowing the Kid to inch ahead to victory.
Kid: 10.444 @ 13.65 Laps
Cat: 10.351 @12.99 Laps
2nd Race:
Cat cured his traction problem and with his slight speed advantage kept him out front. The Kid had a tire down putting him further behind and then it happened. Cat had the dreaded Mechanical failure which costs almost a full lap to repair and it allowed the Kid to move into the lead and hold it.
Kid: 10.461 @ 13.57 Laps
Cat: 10.387 @ 12.61 Laps
Kid to the Finals.

T County VS Dave's Dollies
Image
1st Race
Both cars were evenly matched as they ran the track. T county had a tire failure and the Dollies had a brake failure so time wise they cancelled each other out. When the dust had cleared T County had bested the Dollies by a mere 7 feet. Great racing.
T County; 10.667 @ 13.67 laps.
Dollies: 10.470 @ 13.60
2nd Race
2nd race mirrored the 1st as both still ran side by side. Both were also suffering from slight traction issues but the Dollies were having a worse time of it. Dollies started with a tire down and then another brake failure allowing T County a large lead UNTIL...mechanical failure. Into the pits T county goes allowing Dollies to catch up as they are exiting the pits and its back to racing again. Dollies couldn't quite hold and again the victory goes to T County by 10 feet.
T County: 10.701 @ 12.94 laps
Dollies: 10.801 @ 12.84 laps
T County to the Finals

FINALS

Kid VS T County
Image
1st Race
Both cars were pretty evenly matched but trouble started early on in the 3rd lap. T county had a mechanical failure and then a tire failure from which he never overcame allowing the Kid an easy victory.
Kid: 10.518 @ 13.67 Laps
T County: 10.716 @ 11.99 laps
2nd Race
Both cars started out well but you could see that T County driver had to work hard in the curves to keep it under control. Things were looking up as the Kid had a tire down and then a brake failure on the very next lap allowing T County to take the lead. Things were not to be as T-County had to pit yet again for another mechanic failure and a tire down allowing the Kid to drive again to victory.
Kid: 10.557 @ 12.99
T County: 10.875 @ 10.59.

OVERALL WINNER: KID VOLTAGE :text-bravo:

OVERALL RACE POINTS: (BY BEST RACE LAPS (3-7)
1. KID VOLTAGE
2. T COUNTY LUG NUTS
3: CAT RACING (13.94)
4: SLOT HEAD RACING (13.76)
5: RACING BANDIT (13.64)
6: DAVE DOLLIES (13.60)
7: THUNDA DOWN UNDA (11.89)

This was a great race to run. With exception of Thunda's spider car everyone was in the hunt with only 1 mistake or 1 extra pit to keep you out of the winners circle. It's always a bummer when you hear "** you have a mechanical failure" and you know that it will put you out of the race unless some miracle happens. Even though I didn't improve my standings this has been a great series. Looking forward to next year probably with a new team.

Congrats to everyone for a great series, and especially to Kid Voltage for the win in this round. It seems no one was immune from multiple mechanical issues from tires and brakes to engine and suspension problems.

Slothead Racing feels lucky to finish 4th and hopes this moves us up a spot in the final ranking.

As for the unfortunate outcome for the Thunda team, there's no doubt this is totally due to the spider issues. We heard the mechanics were scared to climb under the car to work on it fearing creepy crawlies sneaking up on them and the driver had to be given a sedative just to get in the car. Of course, we admit not helping due to our strategy of pretending to see a spider every time we went past their car or pits. One of us would yell 'Watch out!" as another team member would stomp on the floor or ground leaving a splatter mark from the raspberries we carried in our pockets for just this purpose. In retrospect we apologize for bad behavior if this was unsportsmanlike.
