Racing Bandit in the Vodafone C6 found the power issue with the car and it turned out to be a cracked cylinder head. Preliminary testing showed promise but will it be enough. Mrs Boss made her picks for the day. No one ran a clean race yesterday, let's see if any of the teams can get one today.

Cat Racing in the RSR Gulf
VS
Slothead Racing In the C6 Privateer

Oregon Donors In the RSR Lizard
VS
Racing Bandit In the C6 Vodafone

Racing is scheduled for later today. Light rain is falling with temps in the low 80's. Big difference from yesterdays heatwave.

Last race is in the books and this closes it for Saginaw Valley. The light rain didn't effect times too much. All the teams were ready. The 2 Corvette teams knew they had their work cut out for them especially Vodafone which was untested after the motor repair.
1st Race:
RSR Gulf Vs C6 Privateer
The Gulf team was a touch slower than yesterday but the handling was great. Mechanical issues were just a tire and 2 brake issues. Good solid run.
27.5 Laps with a best of 10.197

The Privateer was continuing to run and handle great but was plagued by several issues including 2 tire repairs, 2 brake repairs and a mechanical issue. It was overall faster than the Porsche but with the mechanical issues it was not to be.
26.5 laps with a best of 10.185
Winner Gulf

2nd Race:
Traction was improving on the Gulf lowering the lap times but with 4 brake and 1 mechanical failures it kept the overall laps down.
27.3 laps with a best of 10.035

Privateer was also gaining traction and saw the opening in the door left by the Gulf and drove right thru it. The team kept it together with only 1 brake failure.
28.5 Laps with a best of 10.008
Winner Privateer

3rd Race:
Team owner Cat Racing had a heart to heart with his team expressing his disappointment with all the mechanical problems the car has had and the need to get it together now. Some of it took hold and they were down to 1 Tire, 1 Brake and 1 Mechanical but the lap times improved again.
27.7 Laps with a best of 9.901

Privateer was on a roll and only needed it to hold for 1 more race. With only 2 Brake failures everyone was at the edge of their seats.
27.5 laps with a best of 10.063 (a 2 foot loss) Great race.
Overall Winner Gulf

RSR Lizard Vs C6 Vodafone
1st Race:
The Lizard was still on fire ripping off sub 9 second lap times. Traction was not an issue but like all the teams was plagued with 2 tire and 2 brake issues. Luckily no mechanical issues arose.
28.2 Laps with a best of 9.868

Vodafone was struggling for traction early on but got it together towards the end but it still didn't have enough power for the Lizard, Along with 1 Brake and the dreaded Mechanical failure sealed it's fate.
24.6 Laps with a best of 10.372
Winner Lizard

2nd Race:
Can anyone stop the Lizard? It ran the one and only PERFECT race with no issues at all. :text-bravo:
29.8 Laps with a best of 9.901

Vodafone knew their fate was sealed before they even started the race but in true racer fashion continued on bravely. As it turned out they should have forfeited the race because on the 2nd lap the suspension gave out and the car drove straight off the roadway into of all things the Corvette tent. A couple of Harley motorcycles were parked underneath it which were damaged but no one was hurt. (Guide flag is locked up for some reason). They were left with a DNF.
DNF
Overall Winner Lizard

Final race:
RSR Gulf VS RSR Flying Lizard

The Final Race between two Titans. These two have been strong all series but both have had their share of mishaps. Both cars are pretty much even so it is going to be a battle of the mechanics. How well did they prep their cars?

1st Race:
The Gulf was out to it's usual blistering pace and with only 1 tire failure was giving the Lizard a taste of it's own medicine.
28.9 Laps with a best of 9.923

Lizard not to be outdone ran consistantly faster times than the Gulf but was plagued with a Tire and Brake failure but still managed to stay ahead of the Gulf.
29.3 Laps with a best of 9.864
Winner Lizard

2nd Race:
The Gulf pushed the power a touch further gaining lap times but again with 2 tires and a mechanical failure kept the team on edge.
28.5 Laps with a best of 9.878

Lizard answered with another slight increase in power but the car was protesting with 1 Tire, 1 brake and 2 Mechanical failures giving the edge to the Gulf.
26.9 Laps with a best of 9.828
Winner Gulf

3rd Race: Both cars were at a loss as to hold the cars together for one big final push.
The Gulf engineers who accompanied the car from Germany assisting Cat Racing in recommended some final adjustments to the car. They found even more speed and but had a Mechanical and Brake failure. Would it be enough.
28.6 Laps with a best of 9.797

The Lizard crew could only watch as their driver did his best to keep the car on the track and not in the pits, but a Mechanical, Brake and Tire failure kept them on edge as the driver pushed the car so hard he was turning times close to the 917's that run the track. Is it enough?
28.8 Laps with a best of 9.663 ( A win by 2 feet)
Overall Winner Flying Lizard with Oregon Donors at the helm

Well definitely no favoritism going on here with a 6th place finish. I think we are destined for the bottom of the leaderboard. Overall the girls did well but I think we need some new mechanics.

Boy this has really died out since summer hit. I was even surprised with how little response my race got. I know I don't do much in the summer but at least the courtesy of checking in would be nice. 2 minutes..really? We're taking time out of our schedules to provide a little amusement.

first round knockout, on the bottom of the leaderboard, things aren't looking great for the downunder team.
Definitely time for some deep and meaningful chats with drivers, mechanics and engineers
We will bounce back with some hard work and dedication

Roll on the next round

Many thanks to everyone involved in this series, I really appreciate it. Slothead racing is undergoing major changes due to the fact the team owner has just entered retirement and is no longer online 8 - 9 hours a day doing email and other work related stuff. Overall productivity is at an all timer low, and I'm loving it.

That said, we're thrilled to be in 3rd place and still have our sights set on the championship. We'll get our PR department up and running again to starty planning for the victory celebration.

The Ohio crew, knocked out early was hoping to see a Corvette take home the podium gold (even if they couldn't) - but no such luck (darn crafty Germans and their rear engine machines...)

The transports were seen headed south to Ohio... Racing on the Iceman Raceway tracks coming up in the very near future!
First round will be on "The Icehole" oval!

Slothead Racing will be there but team will mutiny if we don't take a detour to Tony Packos on the way.
Image

It can get a little fragrant in the team RV after everyone fills up on PACKO'S ORIGINAL HOT DOG (HUNGARIAN DOG) served with mustard, onions, and hot dog sauce (chili), but can't resist it. Can't thank Klinger enough for the heads up about this place.
