Welcome back to Elra Park, here we go again!

All teams were there to test the layout changes, the first thing they noticed is that the new (old) barriers does not behave than the more modern ones that was before. If you hit the barrier while sliding it makes some kind of ricochet that , at best, make you lose time. It makes it more "technical" ¨cause you have to make a more clean curve.
I didn´t remember this from the races back at the 70´s but at that time borders was a rarity in our rug tracks.

An extremly hot day at the circuit, no rain (13 at die throw).
Anyway I decided not to put the air conditioner and race at actual temperature.

#41 BARC (March) vs # 4 Chappy (Tyrrell)

What a start for the new round!
Two canadian teams, two different ways to understand a team, a very pro BARC team against a redneck look team.

Both drivers loked at the other eyes in determination while wait the semaphore to permit to unleash the beast!
Both cars side to side from start to the end, when chekered flag fell, the race direction anounced that Chappy was 0,03 seconds faster.

Second race was better for BARC, Chappy did a mistake on lap 12 and deslot, was unable to catch a very fast March that overlaped the blue/white car.

#5 Hksk25 (Lotus) vs #14 Artús (Copersucar)

The brazilian car seems to be not a serious oponent to a very solid Lotus team.
First race was easyly won by Hksk that overlaped Artús.
Second race was also won by the black/gold car, anyway Artús managed to finish on the same lap but nearly at a second distance.

Lotus team at the moment it´s doing a very good series.

#10 vonsirius (March) vs #9 Z-carfan (March)

Two similar cars but one whith two extra wheels!

Z-carfan´s car it´s clearly faster than vonsirius´ but overpowered for such a short track, there´s also no space to weight it and racing magless, make it a difficult car to drive.

On first race the orange car has not very difficults to won the six wheelers that besides racing very agresive was not able to finished on the same lap.

Driving to the limit, vonsirius drove whithout mistakes and went relatyvely fast, trying to catch him Z-carfan deslot, marshalls went fast but so much preassure finished on other deslot!
Vonsirius victory this time!

Happy faces at von´s box.
Concern at Z-carfan team that seems unable to go up on the score board.

#11 TuscoTodd (McLaren) vs #26 Dangermouse (Ligier)

The Australian team was working hard in the Ligier that now performes better.
TuscoTodd´s McLaren it´s other of the overpowered cars in this series, it performes well but you must be careful, there´s a thick line between going fast and the accident!

First race was fantastic , continuous changes on leadership, finaly the Ligier was ahead by only 0,03 seconds!

Second race was easier for Dangermouse, beeing Tuscotodd desloted on lap 7.

#20 Frank9219 (Ferrari) vs # 8 CJR racing (BRM)

Ferrari team was working hard on their car during the break on their Maryland HQ. A general tuning and an hard sanding of the guide seems to prove efective during testing.

When race starts CJR seems to have problems at Dunlop curve whitout aparent reason, he must to brake hard to avoid deslot while the blue Ferrari nearly didn´t use brakes! easy victory for Frank.

Between races BRM team work on rear tyres hoping that this was the issue.

Second race went on and whith an excelent start CJR was ahead the Ferrari that never gave up finishing only 0,07 second behind.

#20 Slothead (Wolf) vs #7 CARacing (Shadow)

Despite having the office at local pub, the Shadow team has a good tuned car.
Slothead car goes fast and secure but at race conditions, sometimes looks like losing power whith no aparent reason!

CARacing ran well whithout any mistake on both races and despite losing power Slothead manage to finish only one lap behind on both races.

After the race Mrs. Grump herself whent to the workshop and after two hours of working in the Wolf found the problem!
The pinion it´s not completely staight! (never saw it before!), some work must to be done.

#41 BARC (March) 27points

#4 Chappy (Tyrrell) 24points
#5 Hksk25 (Lotus) 24points
#8 CJRracing (BRM) 24points
#26 Dangermouse (Ligier)24points

#7 CARacing (Shadow) 23points

#9 Z-carfan (March) 21points
#11 TuscoTodd (McLaren) 21points
#20 Frank9219 (Ferrari) 21points

#14 Artús (Copersucar) 19points

#10 Vonsirius (March) 17points

#12 Slothead (Wolf) 14points

Next round we will arrive to the half of the stil very open championship, see you there!

Well we have discovered what caused the deslot on Team Tyrrell.
One of the lads left an empty can of beer on the floor and it rolled under the brake pedal. He assures us it wont happen again as he is switching to bottles. Problem solved hiccup.
Onwards and upwards

Sixth round, the middle of the championship.

A summer day, relatively hot but cloudy, the die throw says that will be rain during the second race.

Remember that a 20 sided dice it´s throw before the round starts, 1-15 means wet track, 16-17 rain during first races, 18-19 rain during second races, 20 rain all day.
Under rain conditions cars run at lower voltage, so speed it´s reduced and must make a pit stop, if it´s raining all day, pit stop itsn´t necesary.

#4 Chappy (Tyrrell) vs # 11 Tuscotodd (McLaren)

The current series´champion it´s fighting to be on the top, while McLaren team it´s in the need of points to be at!

First race show us an excellent Chappy leading the race from start to finish, TuscoTodd raced well but was unable to catch the Tyrrell.

Second race starts whith the sound of a distand thunder and suddenly a heavy rain start to fell from the black clouds above the circuit, both teams made a pit stop to change tyres, TuscoTodd went back to the track first leading the race, reduced speed seems to affect the tyrrell/Polistyl motor that did not run smoth as usual making drivig more difficult, specially at the hairpin where you must accelerate hard.
The red/white car overlaped the Tyrrell.

#8 CJR racing (BRM) vs #5 Hksk25 (Lotus)

On first race the Lotus ran so fast that CJR must to bet for all of nothing! The once Pedro Rodriguez drove car whent almost side to side of the black Lotus but at lap 19 suddenly CJR lose control and the car refuse to turn at Dunlop curve, marshals must be smoking or chating at the phone and went not as fast as desirable, another victory for Hksk!

Rain seems to not influence neither of the drivers that went side to side all race, even at the pit stop, the Yardley BRM finished 0,04 seconds ahead the Lotus car!

Bob Palermo´s historical notes; Pedro Rodriguez was a mexican driver whith two GP victories, he gaves the first victory in four years to BRM team. Died in 1971 driving a Ferrari in a minor race.

#26 Dangermouse (ligier) vs #20 Frank9219 (Ferrari)

Two similar cars (two scx) but the Ligier has a RX-4 motor while the Ferrari mounts an open RX (Still the one I used to race against my friends as a child, so this motor has 40 years or more and still racing!!!).

The canadian driver toke the leadership from the start, overlaping the Ferrari. Anyway frank it´s one of the race fans favourites, the aggressive way he drive the italian car always deserves the clap of the audience!

Both drivers side by side inside a cloud of sprayed water from start to the end, both changed tyres quickly , at the last two laps the Ferrari went ahead, Dangermouse did his best but the italian car was 0,04 seconds ahead.

#7 CARacing (Shadow) vs #41 BARC (March)

No much to tell here, the "tea tray" March gave no option to the american car, despite CARacing´s efforts the March overlaped on both races.
Rainy conditions made no difference.

BARC´s March it´s at a very good moment and seems unstopable for now!

#9 Z-carfan (March) vs #20 Slothead (Wolf)

A fantastic start , the orange March leading whith the Wolf´s nose glued to her tale, both drivers drove fast, people enjoyed the race, but suddenly a disaster happened, at the end of the main straight the March braked a little too late, made a spin off hiting the barrier and a marshall, the litlle 1;32 man lie down, the flag out of his hand and motionless!
The black car overtoke and finished first.
A victory for Slothead!

Under rain the Wolf , whith their transmision problems solved showed more secure and won again.

Two victories for Wolf team at last!
Concerns increasing on the Galena based team, has perhaps the faster car of the series but the handling problems still going on!

The marshall it´s now recovering, there´s no concern for his life.

#14 Artús (Copersucar) vs #10 Vonsirius (March)

The yellow car went fast and has a clear victory over the six wheeler.

Under rain the Copersucar´s motor seems to be affected somehow by the water and Vonsirius managed to finish on the same lap at 0,08 secons ahead.

Mr. McDraw seems now more interested on the Trans Am series than at the F1 one, putting more efforts at the Camaro than at the March.

#41 BARC (March) 33points

#5 Hksk25 (Lotus) 29points
#26 Dangermouse (Ligier) 29points

#4 Chappy (Tyrrell)28points
#8 CJR racing (BRM) 28points

#7 CARacing (Shadow) 25points
#11 TuscoTodd (McLaren) 25points
#14 Artús (Copersucar) 25points
#20 Frank2919 (Ferrari) 25points

#9 Z-carfan (March) 23points

#20 Slothead (Wolf)20 points

#10 Vonsirius (March) 19points

Six rounds to come, Chappy leading the series but a lot of teams battling hard to be at the top!

As usual, here at Elra Park encourages you to leave feedback , it´s half of the fun and it´s what makes this series have sense! :D

See you next round!

the latest from CARacing.....
Spinner Wheely (Team Boss) is very unhappy with the team effort before, during and after the last race. All parties and pub-crawling have been cancelled with immediate effect. What was supose to be relaxing time, ended in complete lazyness. Wren Wrachet (Chief Mechanic) also received his final warning and he must secure a win in the next round or his head is rollong...
Back to basics for the team CARacing, was the closing comment from Spinner.

Thanx Von, you guys are doing great over there!!

Cheers

BARC Manager addresses the Press

"The team has really gelled and is making the most out of the chassis. We are edging out victories and gaining crucial points as we strive to reach the goal of always improving. We lost a close one last season, and to improve on our performance we must win. The results on the track are speaking volumes about the preparation that the driver goes into each and every race. Away from the home garage there is nothing to do but let the driver get on with it. I am very pleased with the race results and our position in the standings. However this is racing and anything can happen. The team must stay focused on the goal, and understand the competition does not stand still. We need good results for the remainder of the season. I keep reminding the team, we are only half way there. We don't want the wheels to fall off our wagon now."
Cheers

I wonder if the #9 Beta March needs more downforce in the nose? She deslots rather easy. ;) Or maybe my drivers right foot is heavier that we thought? :)

CJR RACING is protesting and demanding a change at Dunlap corner. But is willing to accept lane choice and extra practice time with new competition quality tires for the next round. Free sushi is being offered to all race officials.

Postby vonsirius » Tue Aug 15, 2017 12:28 am

Hello again to Elra Park!
A fine weather, not to hot not to cold and a race ahead, can we ask for more?

Teams was working on theirs workshops ,his goal to be among the four top and pass to the final phase.

This time my son helped me whith the round.
Whith still sushi taste in our mouths the races began;

#41 BARC (March) vs #9 Z-carfan (March)

No surprises here, Z-carfan drove fast but , like others realized before, there´s not option at the moment to beat BARC!
The red March seems now able to win anyone.
Maybe is no fair but after two good races, Z-carfan only earn two points.

#5 Hksk25 (Lotus) vs #26 Dangermouse (Ligier)

The lotus did a great start but the australian driver was able to catch the american after three laps, from there it was side to side action, when the chequered flag fell a look at the carrera lap counter showed us same laps and same time!
3 points each!

At the second race the gold/black Lotus has a deslot and on a so close race it means a victory for the other driver.

#10 Vonsirius (March) vs #4 CJR (BRM)

It was not CJR´s day , BRM team seems to have bad luck lately.

The March team glued the tiny tyres of the six wheeler and seems to make a great change, going faster and more secure by team surprise a little change did a big difference!

Under preassure CJR desloted a pair of times and was a victory for the catalonian based team!

When seems can´t be worse at the second race the white car losed control at bridge curve and crashed , finishig upside the stone bridge barriers, thanks God CJR was unharmed but the BRM was unable to finish the race. Once again a marshall was injuried but nothing serious!

#7 CARacing (Shadow) vs #4 Chappy (Tyrrell)

Tyrrell team was determined to win, CARacing didn´t gave up but the blue/white car overlaped the american car.

At second race Chappy didn´t feel comfortable at grandstand/bridge curves while CARacing made a perfect race, this time was the Tyrrell the overlaped car!

#20 Frank9219 (Ferrari) vs #11 TuscoTodd (McLaren)

What a race ! both cars side to side from start to the end, for second time this round same laps, same time!

At second race, the once James Hunt´s car, lose some grip, specially at the haipin and the once Lauda´s car overlaped the McLaren.

#20 Slothead (Wolf) vs #14 Artús (Copersucar)

Not too much to tell, the work done by Copersucar team prior to the race has a great efect at the car, that seems to be at his best, despite Slothead raced very well, the yellow car showed no mercy winnig both races.

Bob Palermo´s historical notes; After two seasons at McLaren, Fittipaldi by surprise joined his brother´s team founded Copersucar-Fittipaldi. His best results was 17 points in 1978.

#41 BARC (March) 39points

#36 Dangermouse (Ligier) 35points

#5 Hksk25 (Lotus) 33points

#4 Chappy (Tyrrell) 32 points

#14 Artús (Copersucar) 31points
#20 Frank9219 (Ferrari) 31points

#7 CARacing (Shadow) 29points
#8 CJR racing (BRM) 29points
#11 TuscoTodd (McLaren) 29points

#9 Z-carfan (March) 25points

#10 Vonsirius (March) 24points

#20 Slothead (Wolf) 22points

Four rounds to go and some changes at the score board, some teams will must do their best if want to be at the top four!
See you at next round.

As always team´s press notes very welcome.
