Rules

We're going to keep the rules simple and few, as we did last year:

1/32 scale
racing/prototype cars from 1960-1975 period; Ford or Porsche
Plastic or resin body (no lexan)
Lightweight interiors allowed, but must be 3D and painted to show drivers head, shoulders, arms, steering wheel and dash
Lightweight glass allowed
Wheels must have period inserts or look reasonably period for the car
Plastic RTR or brass scratch-built chassis and everything in between / podded and non-podded
Motor limited to 22.5k rpm manufacturer's spec/ any configuration: IL, SW, AW
No magnuts
Minimum clearance 1.2mm
Rubber or urethane tires
Tires and guide not visible from above
Everything else - open
No duplicate numbers, so sign up early and claim your number(s)

Those are the basic rules, we may fine tune some of them if there is a need, but the intent is to give the builders as much freedom as possible, while still maintaining a reasonably level racing grid. If we get over 32 seriously interested builders, we'll revisit the cap, but it relates to what is manageable in a single race day for most of the hosts.

Entries

Cost is $20.00/car and each builder is limited to 2 cars; two Fords, two Porsches or one of each. Maximum number of cars for this proxy will be 32, minimum number to run the proxy will be 20.

Cars will be due at my track October 1, 2017, which gives everyone plenty of time to enjoy their Summer and still have time to build and prep their entries. The shipping address is:

Allan Jarvis
46 River Road
Merrimac, MA 01860
USA

Registration fees are due August 1, 2017 and can be made via PayPal to: apjarvis@aol.com

This will be another round the world proxy, so total time to complete the series will be in the range of 9 months. We're shooting for a total of 12 tracks.

Two of the most iconic racers ever to run the big road races:

Here's a clarification on the cars for this proxy.

We're including all of the racers/prototypes from Ford and Porsche from the years 1960-75. We are not including the street Fords and Porsches from this period.

Here are the Fords:

Ford Cobra - intro '62 - Revel/Monogram, others
Ford GT-40 - intro '64 - Slot.It, NSR, Scalextric, others
Ford J car - intro '66 - GMC
Ford P68 - intro '68 - NSR, others

And here are the Porsches:

Porsche 718 - intro '58 - GMC / Retro Resins / Shotgundave
Porsche 904 - intro '63 - MRRC / Carrera
Porsche 906 - intro '66 - Fly, others
Porsche 907 - intro '68 - SRC
Porsche 908 - intro '68 - Fly, others
Porsche 910 - intro '67 - MRRC
Porsche 917 - intro '69 - Fly, NSR, others

There are more Porsches to choose from than there are Fords, but the way that the GT-40's, both the NSR's and the Slot. It's, dominated last years War, I think they'll make out just fine...........

I've listed some of the slot car manufacturers for each of the above cars. The list is not complete; it's just an indication of where you can go to get your favorite Ford or Porsche. In addition to the above major manufacturer's products, there are many resin bodies of these cars available, so you have plenty of choices for this series.

Have fun building!

If so I'll be running a Porsche 917-10 from the 1972 awesome CanAm series.

Dave, chassis rules the same as the Ford-Ferrari War proxy cars.

Dan, the Cobras that ran the big races were, primarily the Daytona Coupes that came out of the Shelby-Ford collaboration. But, AC did field it's own Le Mans coupe in '64, which was different from the Daytonas. Because of the relatively low number of different cars in the Ford category, I'm fine with Cobras that are Daytona style, open coupes and hard top coupes. Let the Cobras race!

Here's a link to the GMC body kit for the Porsche 718 coupe. It's a very cool car. You can see the 904 influence in the front end and the 550 influence in the rear.

And here's a pic of a couple of the roadsters in competition:

You're good on the 908 or 917; but the 917 successor, the 936, is a year outside the window for this proxy ('60-'75).
