Artin American Thunder Fun Run - Race #4 - UK Black

Postby TuscoTodd » Tue Jul 05, 2016 10:34 am

After the tight racing on the banked Tri-Oval, the American Thunder series took on the challenge of a flat road course - running the 144' UK Black at Mark's Model World!

APalmer handled racing duties in the White Lane
I manned the trigger for the Red Lane

To say that there was some more GREAT door to door action would be an understatement!
As the pictures of the finishing positions and the lap totals show, I don't think you could have had a better battle! (which made for a lot of fun!)
Now on to the pics!

The field lined up waiting for their runs...

After finishing up with the run on the road course, the transports were lined and everything loaded for the trip to k0z0oo1 NEPA track in PA...
And while the transports did roll out this last Saturday, there was a little goofing around with the field on airfield next to the track... More details on that to follow later this week.

Great work reporting on the race! Nice to see a wide turn commercial style track. Cars arrived today, got them unpacked and preliminary sorting out finished.

Wow, Todd that is some close racing. Fast lap doesn't always win the battle. Congratulations to Austin, BTaylor and Todd for the top 3 positions. Um what happened 1 lap down in the red lane. Hope it wasn't a de-slot. Gameover had a bad day as well. Now to look at the standings I think BTaylor will now be your series winner as he out did me. Congratulations Bob.

Just as I expected BTaylor by 2. Congratulations. Maybe I can make it up at the next venue.

Great pictures Todd.

It was interesting how the field shuffled on the road course verses the banked oval - but considering that the road course has longer straights and no banking, I would have been surprised if didn't. :)

Arrold - I think your car was about 3 feet shy of making 20 in red when the time ran out. The fast lane actually came in white - which has a little more generous corner radii than red. Some cars made their fast lane in red, some in white. It seemed the heavier cars tended to have a better showing in red than white - but it wasn't universal.
Again, any way you cut it - these cars were a great looking group of cars there were a LOT of fun to run! As a host, I have to say hats off to the builders!
