We Ran the Surrey Airport
With owner Mike back from his recent trip, we gathered in his shop to run the proxy race on the Surrey Airport. Both Mike and his wife are retired Air Canada pilots, so the setting seemed appropriate.
As any airport track would be, the racing surface is flat with 0 camber on all corners. Mike's track was only built this past spring, so not all the drivers were very familiar with it. A few minutes of testing other cars soon got them ready for the proxy cars.
We started with the class A slowest cars and worked our way up. We wanted to avoid rush hour, so started at 11am and were done by 3pm. We drove two minute heats per lane.
All cars ran well with the exception of one car that we thought had an issue. It turned out to be the controller to blame, so a quick switch and redo the heat and all was well.
Mike's track has 3.5" lane centres with no squeezes. It was CNC routed so had no issues. It was great to see many of these cars running door to door, lap after lap.
Now to the results.

You can see in Class A that Dennis's #100 has regained its form and once again took top spot. There was a tie for second, which breaks my streak of straight thirds. I think I can accept that. The white Cobra of Barbs Hills, continues to lead the Manx snakes.
In Class B, Chris's Chevron pulled away from the pack to post a stunning win. Ron's Lola continues its podiums and there was a strong cluster of cars just off the podium.
I will update the leaderboard shortly, and Luf will post video once he has edited it.
Next and last race of this series will be held this Saturday afternoon, with result following shortly thereafter.
Hopefully, all cars will make it home before the Christmas mail rush.
Stay tuned,
Keith
