Trouble is now I've got a decision to make. Do I continue the grass up over the tops of the cliffs at the back of the track or do I leave them bald?

The most recent patch of grass has some of the new 12mm Noch fibres mixed in to my blend. Really does look better. Much more scruffy and wild. I'll have to redo some patches at the other end of the track.

David, it was actually a visit to the local railway modellers' club that started the saga. I made the visit to them in a hope of learning things from them and walked away thinking "They're prize winners? Heck I can do better than that!" Still trying to get some of them around for a track visit. But NOT the scary two that had me trapped in a corner.

Great to see progression pictures of your track. I posted some of mine, just to show others who may
not belong to our hobby yet, but stopped into the site to check it out, did not feel that they have to start
with something as great as yours ! Looking forward to learning some of your scenery tricks .
I hope to see others post the pictures of the start of the track as we did.

I thought you guys already knew.
All the Girls in Australia have slotcar layouts like this one.

Seriously tho' this is perhaps the best layout I've ever seen. Simply amazing. Really Embs you should be doing this for a living. Those Hollywood special effects model makers have got nothing on this.

That last shot of the Torana, well that IS John Fitzpatrick coming down the Mountain on the last lap of Bathurst in '76. Only thing missing is the trail of smoke from the diff. Uncanny.

Thanks guys.

Ted, I don't think Hollywood would be keen on my slow work rate. Hope to get stuck into some more work on the track when I get home from the West.

Well. For those of you who are getting a little tired of seeing the cherry Charger appear in so many of my photos, you can breathe easy for awhile.

I'd like to introduce you to my new star car.

Truly a stunning slot. This sexy little beast is the result of some ill gotten gains. A side bet with Miveson on a couple of proxies that we participate in together. The first season he beat me quite convincingly and scored a missing Caterham for his collection. When the series ran again we continued the bet with the proposed prize to be a Pioneer MGB. Well, as the MGB is still awaiting release I decided to hold the prize over until I found something suitable. The bet continued on to the SCX Proxy rally ad once again I was lucky enough to be the victor. So, after some thought and discussion Miveson was nice enough to join the two bets together so that I got this stunning Ferrari.

Now I just have to learn how to deal with taking photos of this black beauty.

I think the Ferrari would look awesome anywhere Richard.

Someone challenged me to find an angle at which it looks less than pretty. I think the only angle that would do that would be looking straight down on it, if it was battered and broken into pieces on the floor.

Embs unless you've got "pull" with the local constabularity I would get some plates on that beauty quick. Oh yeah, never mind, you are the law in those parts, I forgot

 I must admit, given the amount of detail in the car I was a little surprised that they didn't have registration plates on it. Need to decide if I should add them.

Show us what Aussie plates look like anyway,Ember.

Could you just photograph them, and reduce them on the computer?

David, here's the generic Victorian layout.

Image

I'm quite happy with making my own (I made enough replacement ones when I was doing sign work). And vanity (Wayne Kerr) plates are always fun

Very nice.

Lovely Citroen.

You'll be keeping Wayne Kerr for a Porsche, I guess?
