The Speedway with Many Names

I've renamed the track everytime we've moved. I think I'm going to give it its original name as homage to its roots. Anyway, here's my track. I can't believe its around 6 years old now. Four lane copper taped oval. Flat sharp turn 1, bend in turn 2 that gets people once they have turn 1 down. Turn 3&4 are banked. Front stretch consists of 2, 5-ft sections. Pyramid power supply, using XLR connections for the controllers.



I am finally putting in an infield. Tonight I added a pit wall and part of the paint for the pit boxes. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to run the other lines and paint the roofs of the garages. Thanks to everyone who has given me ideas from the thread on the 1/32 forum.

Well, I think it looks great.

I like the kink (bend) there. I can imagine that it does school the would be shoe who thinks they can hot foot it there :)

Just an ideal track really. Fits in a decent space, size is more than enough for some great action, time tested power supply and control.

All you need is a few folks and a bbq grill going :)

Yeah it is a mouthful haha. I think it will go back to T&C Speedway, named after the neighborhood we lived in when it was built: Town & Country. My initial thinking when I built the track was to have a fast part and a more technical part. This is why it has the banking on one side. It was initially against a wall like now but I wanted to add an optional infield road course, thus the little straight between turn 1 and 2. I was getting ready to finally pull the trigger on the infield part but then realized that my 4&5 year old would want to run that course but they wouldn't be able to reach the cars. So then I decided to do some decorating instead.

Worst part about the track is the "bump" going into turn 3. I didn't line up the banking right. You have to set yourself up on lane 4 by letting off just as you approach the turn before giving it the gas. This can be frustrating for beginners. I've tried sanding it down and lifting it up more. I've improved the situation but not eliminated it.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. I'm trying to figure the tightness of the kink. I've never seen one that had a radius that small. Like Harry said, that would get your attention. I've seen some that were so gentle and smooth you just blast through as though it wasn't there. Yours looks like a lot more fun.

I love the idea of the kink. If I ever have time and room to build an oval I think I'll have to follow suit!
