Clear plastic guard rails

I have a few areas on my track that will require clear guard rails. Suggestions please. TY

I picked up some 1/8" plexi at Home depot and cut it into 6" tall strips. Screwed it to the track in spots and the table edge in other areas. Works great. If it's going to be freestanding you could drill the table for dowels and screw the plexi to the dowels. Just make sure you drill the holes for the screws first as the plexi will crack if you just try to put screws in.

1/8" lexan.
Available in sheets, easy to cut with a band saw.
Pre-drill the mounting holes and use washers or collars on the screws to avoid cracking.
I suppose you could use something more flexible like bottle material if the areas that need to be clear are short?

I used the 1\8th and it did not hold up to hard use, cracked, left sharp edges, I replaced it all with 1\4

drill plexi easy or it will crack, don't force the bit into the plastic. Buy some faucet washers to put under the screws so the plexi doesn't crack when you tighten the screws. You can also buy plastic washers at the hardware stores instead of faucet washers, but faucet washers compress more. You can get plastic washers that are the same size as guide flag spacers you buy at the track. They are about 16 cents each locally.

Another 'softer wall' material is vinyl door strips normally used in shipping doors to drive lift trucks through and other passageways. McMaster Carr has a variety of thickness and colors to choose from. Yes, you can order one 7 - 8 ft strip instead of a whole door full. The material still needs to be cut to the width you need. I used one size on my HO Bucktrax to replace the curved walls and reused the hard material on the straights for lane dividers.
