Best way to apply paint on MDF...

Is a foam roller a good idea? Or a thin nap regular roller ? How many coats and do I sand in between coats ?
Suggestions are welcome. TY

I did two coats with a foam roller.

Foam roller worked great for me too. Leaves the surface pretty smooth.

As said a foam roller works the best and at least 2 coats should do the trick...no sanding required between coats!! Others will probably chime in for the paints they use unless you already have it picked out...just keeping the surface smooth is what you want...good luck!!!

Thanks all for your profound suggestions.
I also picked up a paint additive that is supposed to minimize streaks.
There is still much routing to be done,but so far I like where it's headed. A couple of the guys from our Buffalo area 1/32 race club stopped over and gave me a few ideas.

The people in our modest racing group want to know when it will be finished. I said never.
As I will add/fix/adjust things as we start racing. I'd say at least another month to make it race ready.
Will be using Trackmate with a dead strip for timing.
The track will be flat black. I believe it has 12 turns. Once the routing is totally complete, I will put a string in each grove and measure each lane.
I want it done yesterday, but I also enjoy working on it and getting help and suggestions from our club members.
When it is race ready I will make a video of some pictures and racing video.

You might want to try some other color than black... The only reason is it can be difficult to race black cars on a black track.
Besides, any worn track or road surface isn't black anyway. Just a thought.

I was looking at images of tracks and the black one I saw really grabbed my eye.
Routing is "nearly" complete. Then come the repairs to the routing effort. I have tried Durham's "ROCK HARD" filler. Well....the filler is cracking and I am afraid to route through it.
Any suggestions from the routing experts are appreciated. And....THANKS

I usually use Bondo, it sets quick and you re-rout quick. Mine has held up well over the years.
