Hmmm. That guy does look a lot like me years ago. I'm a big fat guy now, and my beard and moustache are almost completely white. I guess the goatee and handlebars and I have been together for almost 40 years now. Woof.

Since the Park service has been switching to Armco, they often leave them raw steel so they take on a red rust look.
For a realistic look, add a parked VW Bus on the shoulder of the highest climb.... that would probably be me letting things cool.... or one run off the side of road at the bottom of the hill wheel the drum brakes faded.. :o

Yeah, just paint it, cut a slot in it, and insert a big hunk of "slate" that you have lettered appropriately. Should work great, representatively, and that makes it more able to take a hit than a fussy kind of modelling. I'm all in favor of that! Like I say, a good deal of my original signage on my first track was wiped out on the second race day.

I have taken note of your tip about putting it on the inside - I stood it where I thought I would put it and have taken it out twice already :)
