Great looking layout for scenery! I really like the elevations as it has really brought it to life!

That is a great looking layout and I like the elevation choices you made. That little hump on the back straight will make it very interesting. Dave has one of those on his PDR and it makes you think before you go all out going over it.

Hi David,

I remember you saying that you were planning for 16 feet by 4 feet, is that still correct?

It's looking good so far.

Yes Mark

Two sheets of MDF 2.4mx1.2m (8x4) I have allowed around 4 feet at each end for my train loops and plan to run the train along the back straight and through the middle. Well that is the plan anyway :)

At the moment the elevations are only propped up with pieces of board so things are a little out of whack in places.

Working on the back straight.

Hills are foam and plaster soaked chux clothes, plus some fly screen and newspaper coated in plaster clothes. Rocks are from rubber moulds. I have been busy processing some foam to cover the hills - will use a mix of static grass, ground foam and some small trees I have from my model railroad days.

Having fun - figure once I get this mostly finished I can paint and tape as most of the other scenery I can reach from the front.

Rocks aren't finished I am working on getting the shading right...

Progress shot - painted the first coat of the track paint - it is a suede effect paint. I am caught in between finishing all the scenery and wanting to get the track running :)

Will spend some time this weekend making some more pine trees a few more on here will look real good

David - the track looks great so far! As for running...you're almost there. Really like how it is all coming together and can't wait to hear your experience with the suede paint.

Bit more progress on the pine cover hill. Plus I have started making a few foreground trees. Placed them on my test track for now until I am ready for them on the big track.

Main part of the back straight is finished I will need to work on the right hand end when I make the train layout and the left end I can finish now that I have added the extra bit of wall.

A few pics - it is a long straight after all :)
