More progress on the grandstands. Using the risers I made the other day as a guide, I made a simple cardboard & foamcore jig to hold them in place while I glued the seating to them. All Evergreen styrene construction, cut out of 12" x 24" .060 stock. The one picture where the riser is being held up by a yellow utility knife is for illustration purposes. I wanted to show the way the risers slid into the jig.

Next I have to add supports (legs), railings etc. Questions?

I still need to paint them add graphics and spectators but they're basically done. Side by side they stretch over 3'

Nice work! Great idea using the jig to keep things square.

I finished the grandstands. I added stairs so spectators can get up & down, barriers in the front of them and flags and other graphics. The final things I need to do is to weather them just a tiny bit, and fill the stands with spectators. This picture was taken from the top floor of the ESSO press tower. Questions?

If you have the time to provide your rises and runs, I'd love to know? I can't get that quite right on my home builds. (I haven't purchased any stands as yet to measure.)

I'm back! This should be the last structure for the layout. It is scratch built from foamcore & styrene. Each floor is accessible & removable so I can detail them. I still need to add figures, lights and weathering. It measures about 11" x 11". Any questions?

Lots of "filling in" and detailing yet to go but it's starting to come together. Still need to add pit crews, officials, more spectators (especially on the roof of the Shell building) and to finish the bare parts of the layout that have yet to be sceniced.
