Carrera Questions

Postby LAMing » Sun Apr 28, 2013 9:56 pm

Hi All:

I have a Carrera D132 Nascar set that I'm looking to expand a bit. I want to add two more controllers so 4 cars can race at once.

First question: Is there a way to up the amps so all the cars have plenty of amps available to them? That is, a way to use two Carrera power packs or something?

Second question: I live in a slot car void in regards to regional hobby shops. What is a good online (US) source to purchase Carrera parts/accessories and such?

Your input would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I cannot offer any advice on the first.

On the second I would check with Bruce at Cincyslots. He has converted to digital himself for his home track and he is one of the most reputable dealers in the hobby. He can help you a lot more given his expertise in the digital format.

Go to his site and give him a phone call tomorrow. www.cincyslots.com

We sell these and you may want to wire in a fuse between the track and the power supply just for extra safety.

This power supply is fully variable from 0 to
20 volts DC and provides up to a maximum of 10 amps. That power
is adequate to run even a 4 lane track with up to Slot.it or similar motors. The variable
voltage allows youngsters to race on the track (turn down the power
to 9 volts) without destroying the equipment. A voltage setting of 6
volts is ideal for breaking in a new car or motor, or truing tires

That power supply is the key for plenty of power on the D132/D124 track. I'm running 6 D124 cars at a time with the power supply, but as Bruce already noted WIRE A FUSE IN BETWEEN THE POWER SUPPLY AND CU. I'm mentioning that from experience.

Hi All!

Thanks for some input... sounds like Cincy Slots is the place for things Carrera.

Bruce: Wow... looks like I could do some light welding with that rig!

I'm going to wait until my new cars arrive to look over the tires thereon. Once they're here and I can see a Carrera Classic Nascar in the flesh, I will need to put together an order for a pair of controllers and a batch of Carrera Classic Nascar or COT tires if you have them in stock.

As for the power supply, we'll get started with what we have, and as the need for speed increases... I'll need to check out the above Powermeister set up!

Thanks again to all.

Other than adjusting the power at the twist of the dial it does offer constant power. Meaning when one car comes off you don't get a short surge in power to the other car.

Just let me know when you're ready.

Enjoy,
Bruce
