First Oxigen C

First install of an Oxigen chip for Carrera Digital. Went well as a result of help from this forum, Slotit website and Youtube Video by Greg Gaub - thanks. Drilled a hole in the chassis at the drivers feet to accomodate for the C-chip's vertical cylinder component and clipped the bottom of the driver's left leg a bit - not noticeable whatsoever looking in the cockpit.

The Fly Saleen was more complicated to get it running in the 6.8sec/lap that is competitve with the average of the fleet. The 4 components that make up the motor, exhaust, transmission, etc. are intrinsic weight to the already long rear-end. The go-to Urethanes woould not fit well on the stock wheels so I replaced with Slot-it wheels. Changed braids.

I sanded the motor componets to lower their fit to improve the body/chassis fit-up that is slightly interfered-with due to the small Oxigen chip taking up a little height-space. The Carrera 26732 would require major surgey in this respect. The first sanding reduced the interference so that body/chassis fit was improved with littel force required to mate-up. The car ran really well after this improved mating, but a little more sanding or a well placed notch should eliminate any force to mate the body to the chassis and allow the car to run more smoothly as it does without the motor components installed.

The car is noisey - I assume the motor components are a loose vibration source - probably gluing them once fit-up is optimized will help. Maybe an upgraded pinion and crown too.

Takes a couple of seconds for the c-chip to recognize where it is after placing it on the track - will not go immediately. A few audible beeps are noticed and the red light blinking is the signal to go.

Fun try for sure. May try a Fly Front mount with the c-chip - probably an even more fun challenge.

It sure seems like there is a lot of room in front of the motor for a chip w/o modifying anything but the interior. Did you look at the Carson chip?

Not really a lot of room dw - look at the cockpit beneath the body. It protrudes deeply over where the chip and motor-connects are. I sanded and clipped flashings from the bottom of the cockpit and the subsequent fit-up - body (with cockpit)-to-chassis is just slightly more hindered than without the new chip installed.

I'm not sure of any Carson chip other than the one I've used on several dpr scalextric. Is there another? Smaller than the c-chip?

Thanks for posting the info. I've got a couple of questions. Is there a provision for lights and what is the power ribbon for?

If you're refferring to the ribbon, then that is the Hall Sensor, I think it's used to sense track position on one of the digital race systems - maybe Oxigen's? I don't need it and removed it.

There's no provisions for head/tail lights as yet. There's a receptor on the chip for lights - but from another source I read that the adapter to mate to the receptor is not available at present.

I just installed a “C” chip in my Slot.it DTM. Compared to the Carrera Chip it is tiny. The ribbon cable is the Hall Sensor for Oxigen. I programmed the chip for D132. I noticed when i put the car on the powered track it took a moment for power on LED to flash.
