Yup, what he said. We run at 16.4 V and control car power via the control unit. And we run non-mag with urethane tires.

Thanks all very much!

I'll keep the magnets in and just use the control unit settings to set a max that will keep them "mostly" slotted as suggested, I tried even lower CU settings with no magnets and the "drifting" dynamic would cause even more issues.

Thanks again - don't know what I'd do without this site!

We just purchased the same power supply. What is start up procedure? Do we turn on power supply first and set volts and amps and then turn on CU or what? Do we even have to set amps or does the CU take what it needs (amps) with voltage set at 18v. We run 4-6 124 cars.

Tom turn on the power supply and set it to your required voltage. With the amp dial I just set mine in the middle since there is no way of knowing what it is without a draw on it. The CU will limit the amps to what it needs. Once it's set your good to go just turn on the CU and your off and running.

Thanks DW
We set the volts at 20 and the amps we turned the knob all the way up with a inline 7.5 amp fuse. With the old Carrera Power pack we was measuring rail voltage at 15.87 but with this aftermarket unit turned up to 20volts we are getting 17.96 volts from the rails. What a difference.
