Front Mounted Motors - Carrera 26732 Chip

Postby Perrotoro » Mon Jun 11, 2018 7:29 am

I like some of the Fly corvettes, but they have front mounted motors. I'm guessing that it is impossible to mount a 26732 chip to front mounts - correct?

You may find what you're looking for there. Front motored cars do have their issues but if you have any soldering skills it can be easy. You just unsolder the led sensor from the chip, glue the led on the chassis where it belongs. Mount the chip on the chassis where you can and run extension wires from the led to the chip. Easy peazy. :D

DW, thanks. I've put the 26732 chip in over 35 cars of various manufactures - like you say : easy-deazy. But I'm not so sure about cars with front-mounted motors - that has a drive shaft to the rear. I'm thinking this might be too difficult to take on, since the chip would have to go under the drive shaft. I'm wondering if anyone has done this successfully and has any suggestions.

DW, does the 26732 fit underneath the drive shaft?

I honestly don't have a clue. I've never seen a Fly up close and never owned one. If it's like the Carrera cars with the driveshaft there is not much room under the shaft. With the newer smaller chip it might be doable.

I wish there was an easy solution but... the only thing I can think of is to separate the exciter light from the chip. You could mount the light with longer wires and place the chip elsewhere on the body with glue. I have seen a post, though not on this board, about how to remove the exciter light from the main chip. Sorry I can't be more specific.
