The instructions also have some goofy notion that the pit lane adapter has to be connected directly to the CU- it doesn't, it can be anywhere in the track. Having to run a car over the PLA to activate it is actually a good thing- it means you can have more than one PLA in your layout, with some registering laps and some not registering laps.
