carrera/software timing help

Hello all
I am having a problem with byinglings timing software... yes I know he has a his own forum on another slotcar site, but after at least 3 tries to join said site at at least 3 ignores { ?]... I gave up with that website hence I cannot contact him or post to that message board...... so if anyone has had this problem.....
downloaded the software from his site on amazon, bought the cable from Digital Racing Solutions to connect Carrera C U to my computer...My computer then wants to install the new hardware { the cable } but cannot find the software on my computer to do it.....? which then makes the software not recognize the a D132 timing sytem..... do I need a separate driver to install the hardware? do i still need the Carrera lap counter? my computer is running XP.....which from i have read should be a problem.........so...Please lil help?
