Just a picture? Care to inform us what features are in there? Carrera Digital, track call button, controls for pit stop, control for fuel burn/refuel, control for weather, track voltage readout?
what else is in there?
Lance

We'll put a video together one of these days. You have digital and analog going on in there.

Maybe the proper question is: "why doesn't your Carrera CU look like this?" Since your friend's modifications make for more options in driving, and further increase the functionality of the Carrera system, the question should be asked, why doesn't Carrera do this? I have nothing but respect for the skills of Seb, but if someone can retro engineer these improvements, why can't/won't Carrera? I am sure that he did not have access to the Carrera codes, so he had to reverse engineer and figure out everything for himself. Since Carrera has all the codes, it should be far less time consuming and easier than someone having to replicate and improve on what has already been done. The enhanced CU could be sold as a separate, upgrade unit, like the pit lane, so it wouldn't raise the price with the standard sets. Or, it could be sold as a "black box" that connects through one of the pre-existing ports on the standard CU. So again, if this is possible why isn't Carrera (or anyone else) doing it? I don't really know what enhancements are possible with this CU, but the mere fact that you can run analog with the flick of a switch; that alone would attract a lot of buyers.

I would love it if someone could document some of these modifications.

One thing I struggle with / find frustration in, is that there are hobbiest that wish to expand capabilities of what they've spent many hours / $ on, but what little that is out there to learn about CU modification, is in German languaged videos.

Scalextric listened to their hobbiest with the A.P.B. The capabilities of that system with RCS64 is incredible! Maybe the real answer is to switch brands...but I don't think so just yet.

If anyone is able to document how to intergrate additional track call buttons directly to the CU, that would be a great start. I don't think it would be very hard, but am weary of warranty issue...for now.
