We do an IROC series in our club on top of our normal points races. They can be a good time, and a lot of the "less serious" individuals tend to show up for those!

We run almost every week, usually on Thursday nights, but sometimes on Wednesdays depending on racers availability.

We arrive with cars from each of the following classes and decide the evening of the race what classes we will run. We run all classes at 10v. All classes allow ballast and basic tuning. Most classes are run on NSR SuperGrips, some classes also allow Slot.It rubber. Most classes are basically stock although some allow gear and motor and other changes.

The classes are:

Slot.It Gr C (White, Orange or Purple end bell motors, Slot.It F15, F22 or NSR SuperGrip tires, Drivers' choice of gears)
Slot.It Classics (White, Orange or Purple end bell motors, Slot.It F15, F22 or NSR SuperGrip tires, Drivers' choice of gears)
NSR GT (Spanish King 19k or King 19.5k motor, Drivers' choice of gears, NSR SuperGrip #5230)
NSR Porsche Cup (Basically a stock NSR but powered by Baby King 17k motor, 13/31 NSR gears, NSR SuperGrip #5230)
NSR Classics (Basically stock, Shark 20k, 11/32 NSR gears, NSR SuperGrips #5241 or #5212)
Sideways Gr 5 (Slot. It Flat 6 20.5k, Drivers choice of gears, Slot.It P6, NSR SuperGrips or stock tires)
Sideways DP (NSR Shark or Slot.It orange end bell. 9/27, NSR SuperGrips 19.5x11)
ThunderSlot (Basically stock, 11/32 gears, pinion may be plastic or brass)
Sportsman (A builder's class. Cars may be cut and lowered, any motor rated max 26k at 12v, any plastic chassis - stock, scratch-built, or 3D printed. No metal chassis are allowed. Any gears, axles, bushings, bearings wheels, tires, guides. Maximum width measured from outer edge of tires is 2 5/8"). Bodies must be injection molded plastic or resin.

Pelican Park Speedway in Eugene, OR is an adults-only key club. We race every Wednesday night since 1987 without interruption. We welcome those who can appreciate our unique racing format and scratch building enthusiasm. Some of us are/were ex-racers in the real world, so the scale replication of real world racing is one of the club's highest goals. The club owned track is a 66 foot long (or short!) 4 lane flat layout extensively landscaped (including 400 or so 1/24th figures). We don’t do 1/32nd. Our cars are custom made by using bodies from plastic and resin kits mounting them on scratch built inline chassis powered by the cheapest Parma or Proslot motors. Members appreciate the rich history of motor sports so we model our cars to fit in 13 distinct classes that captures in 1/24th scale the essence of various periods of motor sports from the 1930’s to the present. We race a different class each week.

Our classes:
Monza: pre 1960 open wheel, F-1, Indy, Grand Prix, such as Mercedes W-196, Lancia Ferrari-D-50, Kurtis Kraft, Watson
Vintage Stock: 1950's era NASCAR & USAC
Can Am: 1960's USRRC, Can Am & SCCA C-Modified
GTS: contemporary sports cars: Ferrari Enzo, F-40, F-50, Porsche 911 & 919, Lamborghini, 2017 Ford GT, C7R ’Vette
NASCAR: 1990 to present, Generations 6, 5 & 4
Clubman’s: 1950’s & ‘60’s production sports cars. 289 & 427 Cobra, MGB, Porsche 904, AH 3000, E type Jaguar, etc
Jalopy: 1950’s short track modified, ‘39 Chevy, ’48 Ford, ’41 Plymouth, etc.
Gran Sports: 1960’s purpose built sports racers, Ford GT, Ferrari P4, Porsche 917, Ferrari 512S
Dirt Devil: ‘50’s, ‘60’s short track stock cars
Super Stock: 1960’s NASCAR & USAC
Vintage Trans Am: 1966-73 Mustang, Camero, Barracuda, Challenger, Javelin
Clubman’s Lights: 1950’s &’60’s production small sports cars, Jaguar XK-120, Morgan, MGA

I do not have a club as of yet . But , with the track I plan on building , it is a Scaletrix wireless track , I will be able to run 6 cars at one time . With all of the different cars that will except the wireless chip I will be able to field a lot of different cars or a set of the same car but different numbers on them . I do have cars that will not be able to run wirelessly , and with that all I would have to do is change out the piece of track for the one that has the plugs for the controllers , But with that you will only be able to have 2 cars at one time and you would be tied to the track

We race pretty well everything. We've got roughly 12 regulars counting two 14 year olds. We run two classes at once and we run each class for 3 months. We stagger swapping classes halfway through so you don't need to buy two cars at once and we recycle, as in cars we already have. The year started off with Revoslots and Thunderslots - pretty well new cars for most then we swapped out Modern GTs for the Revoslots which most had then Carrera DTMs, then Slot It Group Cs for the Thunderslots. We keep score throughout the series and count the best 9 out of 12 since people can't attend all the races. We generally run Box Stock Plus which is just tires (SILICONES!). The Group C class we changed up a bit allowing anything made by Slot It allowed - we also added lights. The first race was in almost total darkness and made marshaling, well, interesting since you couldn't see what lane was what. You'd shout out your lane color and hopefully the marshals knew which lane was which and for the most part they did. Running in the dark certainly focused your attention as a driver and there were surprisingly few offs, you just raced your lane.

I would love to be part of the Pelican Park group to run realistic scratch built 1/24 cars with like minded guys.

What I do have is a group of guys that just race crash and burn most any kind of body and chassis combo. No hinged or flexi stuff, just H&R, Pro Track, LVJ and Womp frames and soldered up brass variations of those. We run hot rod style bodies, and Trans Am bodies. No rules about motors and such. Only 2 of us do most of the building, so if a car is too fast, we just work on gearing it down till it runs laps even with everybody else. It's a chore to keep 8-10 cars repaired and running, so the scale part is secondary to just keeping everything going!

I always wonder how you can enjoy break out racing. Putting the brakes on to slow down sure doesn't seem like racing to me. For the guys I race with we have more fun getting everybody up to speed and helping them get their cars as fast as ours. Then we race wide open with no limits to how hard you drive. We share fun and nobody has to prove they are the best.
